K_K went to the shelter today. Yesterday, an owner dumped their 5 month old purebred dachshund puppy off at the shelter...because it was too 'destructive'. When the owners would leave, they would let the doxie run loose in the house. Leaving a puppy loose unsupervised is like leaving a 2yr old kid unsupervised - you never know what they can get into!
So, the puppy chewed up some stuff, and is now at the shelter...crate training would've stopped that issue from the start. Don't know where the owners got the puppy, if the breeder was contacted for a return (very doubtful or it wouldn't be at the shelter), why the owner didn't try crate training or any training, etc. Puppies don't come out of the box already trained and knowing how to behave...sheesh...

This dachshund pup as well as one or two others will be coming down the road w/ K_K...any fosters out there or anyone looking to adopt - check out the website soon for updated pics of available pups.

Why me??
That is sad that someone didn't give this puppy a chance. I was at Petsmart today and I did something I hate doing........I went by and saw the kittens/cats that are their for adoption. I just want to take them all home with me everytime I go by there. They have some very cute Calico kittens. They also had a cat there that looked like my cat Snickers....I want another one!!!

Its sad. Most of the dogs are Pits. How long do you keep the dogs before they have to go to the shelter??? I sent this link to some of my friends.

Many of the dogs in our rescue are pits, and they will stay w/ us forever unless adopted...we are no-kill...they will never go to the shelter.
Pits definitely need to stop being bred..they are so overpopulated its not even funny. I read earlier today at least 200 pits die DAILY in one county in California...that's not to say how many across the entire United States die each day.
Thanks! Send it to anyone that may be looking for a companion. Our dogs live in foster homes, so we have a good feel of how they interact w/ people, dogs/cats, how their temperament is, etc.

Yeah she called me this morning and told me the story. She was on her way to PG County to pick him up. We are going to VA Sunday to pick up some fencing for her place. :yay:

Went for one, came home w/four.....

Good thing I was out of room in my vehicle...

10 yr old Lahso (sp) that was hit and has been at the shelter for a week, stopped by Tidewater and did an xray, nothing broke just soft tissue damage so she should be much better in a few days of antibiotics and pain pills

5 month old Doxie female, sweet... (she'll be at Petco in Prince Frederick tomorrow if anyone wants to meet her...)

1 1/2 (or younger) boxer mix, very emaciated, owner surrender, turned in 3 all together, he had been accused before of neglect, but got out of it, fortunately for these dogs, now he's loosing his home, they at least now have a chance

then the starving boxer girl that I was looking for a foster home before, well she found one... me....

Unix, I'll even buy lunch....
