I called Mother Catherine Spalding last year for the DQ. She asked where DQ was at the time, which was Bannecker for pre-K. She said, "And you want to take her out of there to put her in here?" :shocking: I asked, "Don't I?" She explained that not many parents take their kids out of Bannecker to put them in MCS. I was already displeased with Bannecker so I knew MCS wasn't gonna be an option.

There is also Father Andrew White, but like MCS, be prepared to volunteer at Bingo, in the cafeteria, door-to-door sales, etc. I would have had to quit my job to be able to do all the volunteer work they required; of course, then I wouldn't have been able to pay for it. :ohwell:

Check out Starmaker ... if you are into Montessori. Christy's had nothing but great things to say about it, and that might be a semi on-the-way option if you take 235 to California, then head to L-town on St. Andrews. :ohwell:
Thanks!

I wish I had known about the open house!:ohwell:

You have to do volunteer hours at LHJNA too. You can "buy" out of it but I want to be involved.

We don't belong to a church which put's her at the lowest priorty in a religion based private school. Leonard Hall has a non denominational bible study.

You have to start early with Montessori schools. I think it's usually like 3 years old. She would be way behind compared to the other kids. Plush she needs someone to "push" her along. We checked into Montessori years ago and weren't really big fans of the concept's.:ohwell:

I have mixed feelings about private school. First, I have my son and nephew in private school. DS is in 1st grade. He did wonderful in kindergarten but isn't doing all that well in first grade. He went from being the best reader to top 5 which bothered me since I've realized he has been rereading all the books he already read in kindergarten. I think a huge part of school is what teacher the child has. My co-worker has her son in public kindergarten this year and it seems to me he is learning what Nicholas is learning this year in first. I do like the disapline aspect of private school though. With my nephew he started there this year in 6th grade. He is doing pretty well considering what he came from. A beef about the private school is that their books are old. My nephew is learning from a 1992 science book and similar years for some of his other subjects. Then I had to pay extra for my nephew to play in band (to the tune of $520 a year) when in baltimore he was having band every day now he has it once a week for a hour at that high price. I also have to volunteer and in addition have to sell stuff with a profit quota for my family. So with all that said I'm very torn as to if I want DS to go through all his year in private school. The nephew on the other hand I do want him to finish out his middle school years there rather than public since I think middle school years are so hard on kids and he had behavioral issues to start with and is doing very well in that area in private school. I sure didn't help did I? hehehe
