A sojourner is not an immigrant but a temporary resident.

The Pope said nothing about illegals. There is a marked difference between immigrant and illegal immigrant. The illegal immigrant has already done what the Pope said immigrants must not do; they have broken the law.

That is not a hard concept to understand.
Oh come on! He didn't exclude illegal immigrants from the meaning of immigrants and he has said before that it is inhuman for the US to keep illegals out. He is telling the US what we should do with the illegal immigration problem and meanwhile the Vatican's borders are closed to the exact same people which would seek to live in the Vatican City.

My reply was to Plan B showing that illegals had already violated the Pope's edict.

The Pope often pontificates on things that he wishes others to do. I don't agree with the Pope and he does not speak for me.

I am all for legal immigration and totally against illegal immigration. My position is we should round them all up, all 12 - 20 million of them and deport them. We need to make illegal entry a second time a mandatory 20 year felony. We need to revoke licenses, revoke contracts, and disqualify from bidding, all businesses that habitually (3 or more times) hire illegals. We need to change Section 1 of the Sixteenth Amendment

Of course it could be argued that those born of illegals are not "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" and therefore do not automatically become citizens.
