OH WAR.... What do you use? What do you mix with yours if anything?

I usually do one scoop of powder, 8 oz water, half banana or strawberries, with some crushed ice. I blend all of this in a blender.

I'm looking for something else to spice up the taste. Sometimes I use 4 oz milk 4 oz water.

Just plan powder and water makes me gag.

I'm not War but I'm putting in $.02

frozen blueberries
frozen strawberries
frozen banana
almond milk
flax oil (not so good for men as it is for wimins)
hemp oil
raw hemp seeds
Aloe Life Daily Greens

it does me good

For a pina colada type try frozen pineapple and frozen banana with coconut water :yay:
not coconut milk and not the kind with added sugar or corn syrup. Look for "Vita-coco" or you can get young thai coconut at Shoppers, use the meat and all.

If you use 8 oz. skim milk instead of the water, you'll gain another 8 grams of protein, and it'll only cost you 80 calories.

I've tried about 35 different protein drinks lately, and NONE of them are any good. They all make me yack. (And I even tried ones that War recommended  ) I've had much better success with the South Beach protein bars that come in at about 19-22 grams of protein, each. They aren't the same thing as a candy bar, but they are somewhat tolerable.

I've not tried all of them, but the ones that I have tried are just ok. If you were to take the protein mix out of it, and they'd be great, but totally miss the point of getting in extra protein.

If you're looking for other ways to get protein in, here is a starting list of god food options:

chicken
beef
cheese
crab legs
lump crab
scallops
fresh tuna
smoked salmon
fresh salmon
tilapia
flounder
halibut
shrimp
turkey mignon (bacon-wrapped turkey)
turkey meatballs (Foster Farms frozen 18 g. of protein for 3 balls)
ground turkey
beans
pouches of tuna, crab
Fage Greek yogurt (almost twice the amount of protein of regular yogurt)
peanuts & almonds

I guess it depends on the protein powder you like to use.

My personal favorites are BSN's Syntha-6 (take your pic, all the flavors are great), Optimum Nutrition's NitroCore 24 (Caramel Toffee Fudge, or something like that, awesome) and Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey in the Pumpkin Pie flavor.

For extra taste, I usually throw in some Natty Peanut Butter, blueberries, banana, ground cinnamon, etc... I use water in my shakes though, I've steared clear of milk (it's not bad or anything, I'm just so used to water after the months of dieting).

No problem, honey.

The RTD ones that you recommended make me puke. What's funny is that even the smallest amount of sugar (real or manufactured "sugar") can make me puke. Regular applesauce (not the unsweetened variety) about put me on the floor in pain for a few days.

Oh, and that Isopure crap is just that. Nasty, nasty, nasty. :barf:

I have been trying to stay away from dairy much. i love fish, not trying to eat red meat, burnt out on chicken and I won't do pork. I have nixed dairy and any other mucus producing foods. I'm trying to cut down on foods that cause inflammation as well.

Did anybody hear about the BS that Talapia is bad for you b/c of the high ammount of omega 6? They said it was the omega 6 that causes inflammation. I don't know..... it was on FOX news so I was kind of leery.

Also, check out Kay's Naturals Inc. and glance through some of their products. They have cereals, crackers, pretzels, etc. that are made with soy protein. Pretty tasty stuff. All natural ingredients, no transfats, and they are gluten-free.

For instance, their cereal (dry) is 9 grams of protein. Add in 8 oz of skim milk, and you can get your protein up to 17 grams.

I've found that their snacks (White Cheddar Crisps) are somewhat salty, but they are a good texture and taste pretty decent, and also at 9 grams of protein for a 100-calorie snack-sized bag.

You can go on-line to their site and get a sample box of their more popular items for $5.00, shipped to your home.

The only problem with soy protein is that the more you process soy the worse it is for you. I will do whole soy beans, soy nuts, soy milk and tofu. For men too much soy has an estrogen effect so limit it.

I hear Whey is where its at for both protein and weight loss.

Where can I find the 100% Whey/Pumpkin Pie flavor or other 100% Whey Protein flavors? I use EAS Choc and Vanilla and a Strawberry from the natural food store in L-town.

I use almond milk in my shakes, flavored and unflavored - but always unsweetened, if that makes sense. I try to add frozen blues, strawberries, raspberries or mixed and a scoop of clear fiber to make it a powerful drink to go.

If I don't have time to blend, etc... I just add Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup and travel in a shaker cup with it. :yum:

TIA for the scoop on the product info. :howdy:

Congrats again on the win!
