Only in Democratic America is division - when it refers to division of opinion - a problem.

Trump isn't the one pitting race against race, group against group - that is and has always been the Democrat's most potent weapon.
What the Democrats don't like is difference of opinion, which is why they lean to authoritarianism.

In their world, it's a better place when everyone agrees; in conservative world it's a better place where people can disagree but co-exist peacefully.
