PSA-911 Signs-If we can't find you-we can't help you!

Someone in your home calls 911 for HELP!

Ambulance, Police and or Fire Department respond, at once. But they CAN"T FIND YOU because:

The weather conditions are bad and visibility is poor.

You have not posted your 911 number by your driveway.

Your number on mailbox is small and not reflective!

Or

Your number is on the front of your mailbox and approaching headlights do not illuminate the numbers.

Or

You have let bushes, vines or weeds grow and hide the numbers.

Or

You have placed your numbers too low on the post and they have been covered by snow.

Or

You have placed brass numbers on your post which do not contrast with the background color and can’t be easily seen.

Or

You placed numbers on mailbox, but numbers are covered when flag is pulled down.

Or

You placed numbers on a light post which sits 25 feet into your yard and can not be seen.

Please take a couple of minutes to post your 911 number properly.

Try to visualize, through your eyes and mind, how and where emergency personnel would be looking to find your home. The more obvious and outstanding your numbers are, the quicker and easier it will result in you getting help.

Where would you look if you were driving the emergency vehicle?

Folks, I posted the above because today a call was placed to 911-the person was "down" in their house, alone and in an relatively isolated area. No address was posted on the property, the ambo had a difficult time locating the residence-this could have been life or death.
Please take the time to check to make sure your address is visible!
The life saved-may be your own.
Thanks! :huggy:

Before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon-this is serious business folks.
I wasn't joking. (Thanks for the negative hit, by the way.) If the delivery guy can find me... and friends can find me... and the UPS guy can find me... why should I worry that an ambulance driver not be able to find me?

That depends on how many times the delivery guy visits your house? The folks who have to respond to 911 calls probably don't frequent the same neighborhood as often as the UPS guy, your friends, or the pizza delivery guy, so I would recommend updating your house numbers. I'd also be willing to bet that the UPS folks have a better method of navagating through an area then the Volunteers who save our a$$'s when we call in a 911.

I am not in either field, so I don't know. And I did not say this is not important... but if no one else has ever seemed to have trouble I doubt the project will be high on my "to do" list.

Why all the emotion surrounding this?

Even if I had no numbers out at all then I should accept the potential consequences in an emergency situation.

Where do you get the idea that no one else has had a problem? It is a problem especially when, let's say, Solomons takes a call over in Hollywood, St. Leonard assisting in Solomon's etc.

Don't reply to threads you don't understand.

Are you sure you understand?

I was commenting about my house. I can not speak for or control what my neighbor does. Nor would I want to.

Again I ask, why all the emotion surrounding this?

I appreciate the PSA just so people can do a quick check, in case they have not thought about it. But if other folks can find me good enough, why should the ambulance driver be any different?

And, to prove my point, I get more crap from someone that can't spell... "Dummass".
