Actually, the Mr. Bean shows were really really funny. I always laughed out loud. I'm sorry they are gone.
He did an amazing job for doing most of the work himself and hardly saying a word.

Are you sure you understand?

I was commenting about my house. I can not speak for or control what my neighbor does. Nor would I want to.

Again I ask, why all the emotion surrounding this?

I appreciate the PSA just so people can do a quick check, in case they have not thought about it. But if other folks can find me good enough, why should the ambulance driver be any different?
God knows I shouldn't respond to this post but, I'm a hard headed Irish lass!
IMHO-Maybe cause the ambulance driver doesn't know you as well as others, doesn't live in the parallel world you live in and might want to render care in a time sensitive manner. Just a thought.
My emotion is, time is muscle...

I appreciate that. (I do highly respect all rescue workers as a general rule.) But if I'm sooo hard-headed that I think my numbers are fine the way they are I do not see why that deserves bashing.

This thread probably should have been wrapped up much easier than this. :ohwell:

I'm the one hard-headed! :jameo:
This PSA would have been short n sweet but you had to put your "funny" lil $.02 in about the pizza guy-
I take Fire and EMS very serious-one of the few things in life that I do take serious-but that's just me. :howdy:
Again, no harm intended.... :smack:

Why don't the pizza guys pre-brief the ambulance crews? If someone's living on a double-cheese meat-lover every night, it's just a matter of time, right?

Folks, I posted the above because today a call was placed to 911-the person was "down" in their house, alone and in an relatively isolated area. No address was posted on the property, the ambo had a difficult time locating the residence-this could have been life or death.
Please take the time to check to make sure your address is visible!
The life saved-may be your own.
Thanks! :huggy:

Good post Lilypad, as a ambulance driver myself you would be surprised how many addresses aren't marked properly, its about 60% marked maybe 40% unmarked, makes it very hard to find in the dark when it can be some type of medical emergency, then the caller gets upset that it took so long to get there, at least with a house fire, if its a good one the firetrucks can see the flames or the glow in the sky that can pinpoint the location.

Someone else posted about different departments having to run into other areas, we have great mapbooks created by our dept. that are updated all the time, our neighboring departments dont, we give them copies of ours for when they might come into our area, one of our neighboring depts. mapbooks is nowhere near as detailed or updated, and at times it can get difficult to locate a location (and we run in their area ALL the time).

Just remember the life you save by properly marking your house could be yours or a loved one, if you feel you are properly marked great. If its on a mailbox mark both sides, if its a marker in the ground have it facing the road and have the numbers at least 2 inches in height.

With the 911 address database it would seem that funds could be spent to provide onboard devices to allow for address input and display options for the drivers. That way the elderly person that hasn't been able to trim the bush that is now covering his house numbers could still get rapid assistance when needed.

GPS with maps designed by the FD, not just Mapquest modified. Even Mapquest could get them within a few doors of the call and it could also pin point lat/long from cell phones. As cheap as they are, I wouldn't be surprised if some departments don't already use GPS.

Shoot something like Terraserver ( http://terraserver.microsoft.com/ ) where you plug in the address and it gives you a map (or photo) with a stick pin at the location would work just fine, at least one would think.
