I( don't trust early voting and mail in ballots are ripe for cheating.
Anyone who gets a mail-in ballot should have a good excuse for not going to the poll, such as hospitalization nursing home or military.

Would you please add "old and infirmed at home" to the list.

I don't go because I can't handle standing in line anymore.

In Arizona, there is an open carry law.

I don't go because there are a lot of opinionated people who are well armed.

That would require someone to pay to vote because Notaries don't work for free. Entirely illegal.

Ya know, in most states, there was already provisions for non-ambulatory, infirm, people to vote by mail. There were very few specific exceptions made for people to vote by mail. Another one was if a person was going to be out of state, or overseas, on voting day, they could vote by mail after requesting a ballot. Geez.

And why are you so sceerd of responsible law-abiding adults exercising their right to be armed in cases of needed self-defense? Is it because you have never yourself exercised that right to be comfortable enough with it, as you are with exercising your right to free speech? Get over yourself. The vast majority of people are well-intended and responsible.

It wouldn't be illegal if some choose to vote by mail, which is a choice, an option, from getting one's lazy ass to the voting booth. If voting by mail is because of an infirmity, exceptions can be made. A notary from the state, or the county of residence, by someone authorized by the Board of Elections, could visit a bonafide home-bound person to notarize with no charge. There's always sensible workarounds. For the lazy, the physically able, who choose to vote by mail. The fee a notary can charge in Maryland is limited to a maximum of $8 for an in-person notarial act. Some don't charge at all. Such as banks if you maintain an account with them.

Then have it witnessed. Every mail in ballot should be certified in some way that it came from the person who filled it out.
Otherwise what happens is that mail in ballots are taken on faith.
My vote at the polls is not taken in faith I have to appear in person ,answer questions and be certified before they hand me my ballot.
I don't just walk in and it is handed to me.
At this point in time mail i ballots are just assumed that the person it was sent to is the person who fills it out, and that is not right , and we all know that ballots are filled out for idiots and the mentally inept in nursing homes and other places.

Your claim to be anybody that doesn't match the registration will get you a provisional ballot---maybe.

I work the polls in Maryland. Yes, you give a name. Yes, you give an address. All of that info is public knowledge. No ID is provided to verify you are who you say you are. You get a regular ballot if you are within the voting district of who you claim to be. And for early voting that is anybody in St Marys County.

I'm just the opposite. I forget what venue it was, but when I noticed that another fellow was CC, I immediately felt safer. But, he was an older Caucasian gentleman like myself, so I may be biased.

I work with a young lady that carries. She also has a trained Belgian Malinous at her heels at all times. It's the safest place I've ever worked.
