Glad you liked that Mr. Negative and let me tell you, I am a big kid....I've been with my company for 21 years.......let the big kids handle this one....please, and how old are you?

You must be a VP by now, or admin...:coffee:

I'm not old enough to be your father, but I am young enough to make you call me "daddy".

So... working with the same company for 21 years gives you expertise on switching companies... how exactly?

PSI Pax is a good company, and once you get your foot on the base many more opportunities arise. For instance if the contract runs out and it's not renewed, just by having worked there you have that experience and will have met so many people with different companies. So think of it as a stepping stone..... I'd take it.

You can still be disposable after 21 years.. I'm just saying..

You got that right. I have 29 years with my company, and was sweating bullets 3rd Q this year, hoping I'd have job thru New Years.

Seniority and rank don't mean alot anymore. And yes, I have sterling yearly reviews.

Glad things worked out for you. I know someone that lost his job after I believe 14 years, it does happen and it sucks.

I used to work for BAE Systems...and I was happy to leave. There were some really good folks who worked there, but they were not among the group that I worked for.

However, I've been an Employee-Owner at SAIC the past 5 years and cannot be happier. It could be that I just fell into poor group at BAE Systems, and was lucky enough to land with a stellar group at SAIC...but I'm HAPPY where I am.

Could you PM me and let me know what group you worked with. It may be the same one that I'm working for. Thanks!

I've been offered a position with PSI Pax. I currently work for BAE Systems. I'm now forced to make a decision for whom to work for. Does anyone work for PSI Pax? If so how do you like the company? With the economy in such a mess is now a good time to switch to a smaller company? Please help…any advice is appreciated.
Have you done a comparrison between the total compensation between the two companies? Not just salary but also things like how much paid time off each offers, health & dental plans offer and how much will be deducted from your paycheck, retirement plan, 401K matching, tuition reimbursement, etc.

PSI Pax vs Big Business

I can absolutely assure you that PSI Pax is an employee oriented company that takes of its people and customers. The big businesses have forgotten what made them good and focus on profit and stock price, rather than people. I highly recommend a forward looking, people oriented company like PSI Pax.

I was offered two different jobs at around the same time, PSI Pax being one, and BAE being the other. I took PSI Pax's offer because they were offering more money and the people I had interacted with from PSI were absolutely wonderful to work with, even walked me through step by step getting my top secret security clearance. I'm now with PSI and I can't imagine going to another company unless I had absolutely no choice.

From my personal experience, PSI is very employee oriented, with bonuses given out for things like emails sent from customers praising your work, the aquiring of a new certificate or degree, etc etc.

As for those who seem to think that being with a bigger company is a better decision, look at it this way... I've known people who worked for large companies for 10+ years and always got great yearly reviews, but still got laid off at the end of their contract now that the economy and job market are the way they have been, just as well as I've known people with smaller companies who suffered the same fate. That's just the breaks with contracting, whether you're with a small company or a big one. With so many projects being nixxed with the newest administration, you have to be prepared, no matter who you work for, for the possibility that you might not have a job in 5-6 months.

Another thing to look at is if you're not working on base with BAE, you're probably not going to be exposed to as many people or teams with different companies. With PSI, I'm in a building that is loaded with people from a bunch of different companies and contracts, as well as gov't employees. If my contract here goes up and I loose my job, I stand a much better chance at finding another one more quickly because I know so many people here, I'm building a name for myself. Even if PSI lets me go because the contract is over, I have a foot in the door with other companies now.

Big business gives the illusion of security, but that doesn't mean anything nowadays. I think a lot of this is going to come down to who's offering you more money and better benefits, and what kind of company would you rather work for?

I assume that PSI didn't just randomly find your resume somewhere and make you an offer... chances are, you put it on the web or submitted it to them and that's how they found you... So if you're looking right now, that might be a clue that you're not happy where you are?
