puppy biting

How can I get my puppy to stop biting me..I have toys for her and redirect her to them but she still would rather bite me than play with her toys. I am thinking its time for a big ole dog bone u know the one that are mad with a huge not at each end that are hard (not rope) and see if she likes that and maybe a nyla bone or 2 as my hands have had all they can take and so have my legs and ankles and feet. She does this for about 2hrs then she naps as if to say I have had enough.

She has also had a few accidents in the house and I have cleaned them up but I kind of wish there was a way I could get her to tell me shes got to go out. When she goes outside she gets a treat for each thing she does. She also gets a treat when she goes in her crate too.

no not potty in the crate. Treat is for her going in and letting me close the door she hates the crate and whines the whole time.

She's adorable. How much does she weigh?

Thanks sharon. We had her at the vet last monday and she weighed 16.1lbs I think she put some weight on since then. I will find out on the 25th how much she has put on since we had her at the vet on the 11th.

She is going to be 120 to 140 when fully grown I do know that much

No I never posted pics of a gs puppy. I don't have one of them. I think this will be the only puppy I will ever have I bet. She is a handful. She likes to play all night and sleep off and on throughout the day. But I got lucky the last 2 nights and she slept 4hrs then needed to go out and then wanted to come back in and play which I surely didn't want to do. The first 3 days we had her she was up every hr on the hr then didn't want to go back to sleep she either whined or bit me to play

We had to start ignoring our dog during those midnight potty breaks. We'd take him out, tell him "go potty", "good potty" and then nothing after that. He eventually learned we meant business and no playing. Of course, we got lucky. Our dog only cried for 2 nights in his crate and now he loves it. Good luck and yes it's very close to having a baby, :lmao:

When my puppy was biting all the time I took a wet wash cloth, tied it in a knot and put it in the freezer. Once it was frozen, I gave this to him. This was great for taking care of the teething problems.

good idea i think i will take an old wash cloth and wet it down and knot it up and let her have at it in the am when she is in hr biting phase which is at 6am most mornings til 8am or so.

Do the wet washcloth, but soak it in chicken broth then freeze it. My (late) big guy loved when he was a pup. If the biting continues then try this; put several pennies in an empty aluminum can and tape it up, when Sparky decides to take a nip grab her by her lower jaw and press down on her tongue with your thumb. While you are doing this give the can a shake or two, NO MORE THAN TWICE! Also while doing this in a firm but not loud voice tell her, "no bite". When she stops biting make sure you give her plenty of love but don't get her too excited.

The shaker can works great for correction for other unwanted behaviors. You are going to have to deal with the whining as she gets used to the crate thing, it should only take a couple of days. You should also cover the crate with a sheet, this will help give your pup a sense of security also.

Look into obedience training especially since you are looking at having such a huge dog in a year or two.
