Do you rent or own? Assuming owning, you should have been told if you are in an Homeowners Association when you purchased the home - if so you would contact the president. You may want to check with your county to see if there are any restrictions based on your lot, for easement purposes.

Ask a knowledgeable neighbor if you do have a HOA...

I rent. I contacted the property management and I haven't got a call back. It's been two weeks.

You must get permission from the owner of the property, check to see if it is in a HOA, if yes - get permission from them and ENSURE you follow county regulations for easement purposes, but most HOA's will incorporate County codes but it never hurts to double check. :yay:

A fence is a good chunk of money and time to lay out just to change or take it down because you did not follow the correct steps.

:yay: awesome! Check to see if there are restrictions on TYPE of fence and restrictions on WHERE it can be... rear-only, whole yard, you must stay X feet away from the neighbors...

Now ,if the neighbors have an existing fence, get permission to tie into theirs as well... it is only a nice thing to do.

FAQ #16: Do I need a permit for a fence?
How close to the property line?

A permit is not normally required for the installation of a fence. An environmental permit is required for a property in the Critical Area only if trees are to be removed.
There are no required setbacks from property lines for fences (CZO Section 61.7.4.a). It is advisable to be certain of your property lines by having them marked by a licensed surveyor. It is also a good idea to install a fence a short distance from property lines to avoid ownership disputes and facilitate maintenance.
