Who all here has ever sold anything of significant value through ebay?
Also how do i figure out how much shipping is going to be?

I was gonna sell locally but i figured i'd get more $$ from my gear if i just put it on ebay.

Don't charge actual shipping just estimate the best you can and add few bucks then charge a flat rate to that will cover to the farthest place your willing to ship. If the place you ship ends up being close, then you get a little more $ out of the deal.

Never used eBay to sell, but you can get shipping costs by bringing the package up to Mailbox ETC, and getting quotes for ground vs FedEx vs overnight vs 3 day, etc........

I haven't sold anything of significant value.. but I have sold alot of things and purchased some pretty expensive things.

When I was selling I bought a scale to weigh things. You can go right to the website of whatever shipping service you will use and get a price if you have the weight. I would always pick the furtherst zip code. OR when setting up your listing you can enter the weight and whoever looks at your auction can enter their zip and get the price for shipping.

Are you going to sell it together or seperate? You could always use the option of no shipping available. That is used for larger items and the person has to come pick it up

well other than the amp it'self and the cabinet, the wireless portion is all hooked together so it would be easier to just offload the whole thing

A complete guitar rig, amp/ cabinet/ wireless

Whuff... gonna be expensive, between the weight, packaging and insurance. Might almost be cheaper to get a shipping company and send it via truck. Not always timely, tho. Hope you get a local buyer with a "you pick up" clause.

The cheapest way to ship something like this is Greyhound, believe it or not they ship packages too. I sell stuff on ebay all the time but wouldn't even try to sell something on ebay that weighs that much.

Ive sold a few things of value and actually got more then I wanted and also added a few extra dollars for my time of going to the post office to ship it. Say for example, you put 14.99 for shipping and the item only cost $5 to ship well you made 9.99 for 5 minutes worth of work.

Get a quote on freight and see, or...

I actually sold a street bike to a guy in California (state of) and had it shipped out there... when I sold the bike I put "shipping to be coordintated by buyer due to size of item"

The man who bought it scheduled and paid for the shipping truck to come and get the bike from my home.

Never used e-bay, but I am thinking about putting some motorcycle bags on there. I am clueless.

I have thought about using you. What's the percentage? I have a helluva lot of stuff I'd like to get rid of and I don't want to do it.

We'll talk and I'll let you know. I love to keep my inventory unique. My neighbor has been providing a lot of stuff and we have an arrangement (fee wise) which I will discuss with you personally.

you can use the turbo lister ( free from Ebay ) it helps you set everything for each auction ( which can be saved as a Template for later use) ....

and the shipping can be automatic ..... depending on the size I use the USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes .... $ 8.95 for what ever fits in the box and up to 70 lbs, you can print the labels on regular paper from you ink jet / laser printer boxes, boxes are free

plus you have to think of packing materials, and also the fees that ebay and paypal charge, i build that into my shipping costs...shipping AND handling

I do not buy that ....... comes out of the price of selling the object ........ packing materials ok ............ but if a seller wants to insure X price than put on a minimum and let it go ........ don't auction something than charge me a $ 25 dollar " Handling Fee " ( only fell for that once ) FYVM :smack:

(not you personally Slaphappy)..............

IMHO ...........
