How do you figure that? If a police officer wanted me to take one, and I had nothing to hide from him, and it would help me out...I would take it. I was not giving YOU personal advice, just stating what I would do. Now like I said before, I would NEVER take one for a PI..

#1 the US legal system requires proof of guilt - not proof of innocence.

#2 if you are being asked by law enforcement to submit to a polygraph, you are a prime suspect, and they are looking for enough additional information to arrest you.

#3 an attorney would never advise anyone to submit to a polygraph if they are under investigation.

#4 any law enforcement officer would tell you any or all of the above, including what I said the first time.

What is the point of taking one if it cannot be used against you in court?

Well they can say, "He was cooperative and took the lie detector test." It can also help keep the heat off of you until you can escape to MEXICO!!!!

Well like I said, if I were innocent and had nothing to hide, I would take one. But if I were guilty, hells no I wouldnt! Thats just me.

:yeahthat: There have also been documented cases where law enforcement has lied about the results of polygraph results to entice a confession. Not saying all do but why take a polygraph when you are under no obligation to do so.

You don't have to prove you are innocent. If you're under investigation, the first thing you do is hire an attorney. Period. You don't try to prove your own innocence.

Of course I would hire an attorney. All I am saying is that I would take one if I had nothing to hide. And if I was innocent and the cops tried to come in and tell me I had failed the lie detector test, I would tell them to kiss my grits cause I would know I was innocent. Hey watever, I am not trying to start a big upraor here, just saying what I would do. Different strokes....

This is why you should never speak to the po-po without a lawyer present. You may believe you have nothing to hide and may believe that "...he also took a polygraph test...." is a GOOD thing for the po-po to say. IT'S NOT!
