Question on a roast

So I put a roast in the crock pot at like 9 and put it in with some McCormicks roast spices and water and I'm wondering at what time to add the carrots and potatoes? I as told to wait to add them because they'd get way to mushy if I put them in at the time of the roast? So....it's now 12:45 is now a good time?

I always add the carrots and potatoes the same time I put the roast on. Everything comes out perfect. Also, instead of using water, use beef broth and a little red wine. I put mine on low for 7-8 hours, depending on the size. Sounds Yummy!!

I add mine in when I add the meat. I also do celery, garlic, & parsnips mmmmm! Now I want a roast
