Question...

Okay, so today with all the MJ momorial stuff going on, of course it's all over CNN. I went to check the news and saw a picture of his 11 year old daughter. She has her nails painted bright red.

I have an 11 year old daughter that I don't let wear nail polish. Am I a bad mom or does anyone else feel the same? I've raised two boys 19 and 23, this girl stuff is different, especially at this age.

I don't see a problem if they are her nails that are painted by her caregiver but if they are professionally done with tips and acrylic that is over toe top.

Good enough for me. Just wasn't sure. My daughter has never really had a desire to paint her nails, she's such a tomboy. I was just wondering if 11 was an appropriate age to wear it, just in case she wants to. Thanks.

On another note, I know a woman who has an 11 year old daughter, she lets the girl wear full blown face makeup. I happened to be out with my son (the 19 year old) one day and we ran into the mom and daughter. I asked my son how old he thought the girl was and he said "18, 19" and I said "try 11". His words were "ewww, her mom is nuts". This woman has 2 other daughters who have had at least one kid by the time they were 17. Not saying it's the makeup, but the mom should really keep a closer eye on her daughters.

That is the first picture I've seen of her where she is smiling. Pretty girl.

Yeah, the kids do it earlier now, but when I was 11 I was allowed to paint my nails. No makeup until I was 14, and couldn't shave my legs until I was 12. I cheated on both the latter and my mom just laughed at me and my cut up legs. She threw away my makeup.

I remember when I was 12 and my friend and I put on makeup and walked around the block, I didn't notice but my older brother saw me and went home and told my mom. Went back to my friends house, washed the makeup off, but when I got home. It wasn't pretty....:killingme

make up is a different story I think 16 is still to young for it. I am 29 and hate putting it on when I do wear it (which isn't that often)

Yea, like shaving my legs, I remember when I couldn't wait to do it, now it's like "Oh God, I've gotta shave my legs again.":killingme

I'm j/k.... to each his own... and it's fine if you don't let her wear it. I remember trying on make up then but never really wearing it until I was about 13, then it was all deep red or black lips, eyeliner, nail polish. Never the pink or blue.

If I have a girl, I'm screwed.... I'm not a big fan of it either. She WILL be a tomboy just like me.

On the other hand my neighbor does her 3 yr old's nails all the time and today I caught her 3rd grader with make up on. I gasped and told her I was going to tell her mom :lmao:

Yep, mine is a tomboy, not sure if that came from me having only boys before her and such a long break in between but she's also around the boys and rough houses with them. Like I said, she really has no desire for make up or nail polish, which is fine by me. Now, she will start middle school this year and I'm thinking this is going to change drastically.
