rain gutter guards

Meet the company at the fair, invited them to take a look and give us an estimate.

These guys are NUTS!

They estimated over $3000 (closer to 4k) just for the covers. BG even asked him if he was replacing all the gutters and downspouts to, no this is just for the gutter guards.

Me being me I do some math... $18 per linear foot, if buyers run about 4 inches wide 3 linear feet would equal one square foot...

Sooooo $54 per square foot for the guards that sit on top of our gutters.. I'm assuming the gutters didn't cost that much.... Holy crap, are people really willing to spend that much? If so I think I'm going to start my own business.

To give you a better clue we had a dry wall company give us an estimate to dry wall our entire basement... Price includes all material, drywall, tape, mud and labor and their estimate was almost identical... WOW!

If you really loved BadGirl you were guard her gutters for her and then give her the cash you saved so she can go get herself sumpin' nice... :tap:

When I had trees I did it myself. Went to Lowe's, bought them, and installed them same day.

Now the house I have now has them already installed. So do the rest in the neighborhood. This was an option that the original buyer paid $500 for. Funny thing is they built this development on farmland. There are no trees and won't be any in 100 years that could ever drop leaves in the gutters.

Did you ever have a problem with leaves building up on top of the gutter guards?

That is probably one of the most disgusting jobs to do around the house, glad I don't have to do it any more. No trees close enough to get leaves into the gutters, but I'd rather clean 600 toilets than clean out gutters. Yuck.

Only problem with cleaning the gutters is that I have to use the ladder because my roof is too steep to get up there and walk on it. Not a big deal. Get off you butt and clean the gutters.

Thanks for sharing your info. We live on 4 acres and our house is surrounded by trees. We want to get some so we don't have to clean them out every month. Also, to save us from climbing up to the second floor. I don't have time to do this that often.

now vince, seriously, is there anything you need to do that doesn't require you to use a ladder?

When I lived in Wildewood, I got gutter guards and installed them DIY. It was easy, and cheap.

I'll do yours for 1/2 the price.

Got gutter helmet, cost me $3500 for them but this included entirely new gutters and downspouts. I have never cleaned out gutters in 6 years now, before i was doing it atleast once a week and every time it rained.

Our gutters are fairly new. Previous owners had original ones replaced with wider/ bigger ones.

Doesn't Lowes sell some DIY ones? Anyone have experience with these?

Yes they are white plastic with screen on the backside, Ive had them up for 5 years now no problems. So far they have stopped everything from going in the gutters including those pain in the a$$ helicopter seeds from the maple trees.

The previous owners installed covered gutters; I think they're gutter-guard, all I know is they have a lifetime guarantee. They don't clog, but they have to be scrubbed every so often because of all the pine sap in the area. It's almost worse than getting clogged from the standpoint of maintenance.
