Alright I am looking for a little Fun Truck...

The truck will have some of the same baseline starting points:
- 2wd
- Manual Transmission
- Engine internals for the swapped would be stock with the exception basic bolt ons: Intake, header and upgraded clutch.
- Emission equipment still in contact (just in case if I move outside of St. Mary County)

So here it is:
85-94 Toyota Pickup with a 7MGTE (88-93 Supra I6 Turbo; 230-235 hp, 246-255 tq lbs/ft)

Or

86-93 Ford Ranger with a 5.0 EFI (88-94 Mustang or F150; 205-225 hp, 275-300 tq lbs/ft)

At what rpm are those torque and horsepower numbers from?
I would think engine weight with the V8 would require a lot of mods to the front suspension

Go with the Ford, if for nothing else the the growl of a 5.0....IMO.

Id say go with the ranger.... the swap will most likely cost you less, and the torque will be fun on the street.

Go with the Toyota, slap a bigger turbo on it and use alcohol injection.

:dude:

The 7MGTE swap has been done, and it is actually pretty easy, other than the mounts which are available its a straight forward swap. Ive even seen pics of Nissans with RB26DETT swaps, and toyota trucks with 2JZ engines. Other than the torque which can be made very easily with a inline 6 engine, the v8 has no other major advantages.

Ive seen the V8 in the ranger done but it is not a very common swap. Mainly due to that fact that s-10's are so easy to find and the swap kits are everywhere. And how bad ass would it be to smoke a car in a truck powered by a supra mill.

It would also depend on styling, i personally do not like the look of the ranger in any year (sorry johnny).

350cid S-10's are bad-ass when you get them setup right... hard part is getting them to hook up - BUT once the chassis and suspension is setup correctly these are hard to beat on the street!

boosted engines have torque at higher RPMs though. So unless you want a crap load of torque from a dig, go with toyota.

It's amazing what people do with Nissan engines. I've seen SR20DET swaps in FD's and Z33's. Not as much as with what people do with LS1's though.

The LS1 in a 240 is a sick swap. Had a friend at work that had a rb26dett swapped into one, he said he got mid 11's with a bone stock motor and RWD.

And im going to agree with clevalley, an s-10 with a SB in it is a bad ass street truck. I want to do it to my blazer but i might end up selling it to my little brother. He doesnt need that much power, the 4.3 thats in it might be to much.
