Looking to by a new range, prefer gas, but that's a non-starter. So between the coil type and the smooth top, one any better than the other, experiences?

TIA!

I had the coil type for 6 years until 2 years ago I bought a smooth top. I love it. No problems with it. Easy to clean.

Yes, I can see that as a big advantage. No more lining underneath the burners with foil and spill overs would much easier to deal with :yay:

I'd go with smooth top, the coil type is a lot harder to clean. The smooth top can scratch easy but it's still a lot easier to clean and it looks a heck of a lot nicer.

Gas is my favorite too but propane prices around here are through the roof ($3.25 gal).

It's really a nice feature. Do your homework...some scratch very easily.

Why is gas a non-starter?

Thanks! Went to Consumer Reports, they rated Kenmore and Maytag models as "Best Buys". What Brand did you guys buy?

Get whatever stove that Catt got cause it makes awesome pumpkin pies.

You know, the new stove together with the new cookware really, really makes a difference in the way the food cooks and the way it turns out. Amazing.

Look at my link..I fixed it.

I don't put stock in the consumer reports. I search for comments by the people that have paid for them and see what they have to say. I liked the Kenmore but many, many people complained about the top scratching easily. I also bought the GE Profile refrigerator and it is the best thing about my kitchen.
