Rant on remodeling vs. decor

Throwing the deuces
My father passed away last year and his wife controlled much of his clutter although his sheds were horrific and he had 2 terrible rooms in his house. We spent days cleaning junk out of.

My husband's mother is also a clutter bug and if I am still around when his parent's pass, I will suggest burning the place down. 😩

His father once said to me, it is all her, not me. He could grab a small box and put his things in it and it irked him that whenever he wanted something of his out, she had no room for it. I am not kidding when I say that his words broke my heart. :(

My husband's mother said she has been going room to room and giving things away to nieces and stuff which I hope that is true. She seemed disturbed when my husband told her that when cleaning my father's house, much went to charity or in the trash. She gasped... but that is what happens in most cases when people who keep clutter pass on.
My mom asks me all the time if I want certain things and I say no. She has literally held onto toys from our childhood (we are all in our 50's and 60's). I truly hope that my sister doesn't ask me to help clean out her house because I would vote to donate or trash 99% of it. I can't honestly think of a single thing in her house that I'd like to have.

My mom held onto the crib she and her brothers used - my oldest uncle is 65! She brought it down to Maryland thinking we could use it when I told her I was expecting last year. I said, MOM!! That death trap is so old, I'm very positive it's ILLEGAL to use! I resold it on marketplace to some furniture repurpose-er who I made sure was reconfiguring it into anything besides a crib.

Some of the toys I appreciated her keeping. Little Man thoroughly enjoys all the oversized Little Tikes Tonka Trucks my brothers played with 25 years ago. But a lot of the stuff I again, took it from her and immediately pitched the day after they went back home :dead: I think my niece got some of my stuff like Polly Pockets and doll houses. My brother said he tossed a lot of my old barbies she tried to leave with him.

My mother should never be allowed a full-size attic ever again.

A part of a full room panoramic pic of bedroom so demensions are distorted but you get the drift
Hire an electrician to eliminate the hanging cord on the overhead light and lose the step stool. These just look tacky. You're welcome.

I thought this was cool. You will never find sofa sets as well made as those 1970ish sets and the way she did this, it is really pretty cool.
She paid $125 for the set and has faux leather cushion covers on it right now. She is going to put on real leather cushion covers on once they are finished.

So simple, really, and a cool repurpose.
