Anyone own a Rat Terrier? I just adopted a 6 y/o female from Tri-County. She's very sweet and completely house broken...no bad habits that I've seen yet BUT she is very apprehensive of people.
Your chihuahua is the cutest I've ever seen.Chasey_Lane said:A friend of mine has two - one is super friendly and the other is a little skiddish around people. She's not mean, just shy. They are wonderful doggies! I have a Chihuahua, but from his looks, he sorta looks like he could have some RT in him.
Awwww! Thank you! But don't you think he looks mixed with something?Nickel said:Your chihuahua is the cutest I've ever seen.
Yes, when you first posted pics of him, I thought he was a rat terrier.Chasey_Lane said:Awwww! Thank you! But don't you think he looks mixed with something?

Naw, posted the wrong picture. Don't know where that one came from. I had two little rat terriers. One died last Christmas and the other...well she's 15 years old so she won't be around much longer.BrassieChic said:That's a Sharpei isn't it? So cute!

With their little stick legs, don't let them jump off a bed or anything higher than your living room sofa. Great lap dogs. In fact they love to sit close to people. Mine is a great watch dog. Anything that moves in the house, she'll let you know. If the dog starts running around 3 legged, don't worry about it. It's common with the breed that their back legs tend to lock up in the knee caps. They'll come unlocked in minutes so don't think their leg is hurt. Other than that, no big medical problems.BrassieChic said:Any specific medical concerns with Ratties? 15 y/o WOW that's awesome! I read that their life expectancy is 15 - 18 years which makes me very happy! Sorry for your loss. I recently lost a very special dog and it's been extremely hard!

So I could have Stinky McGee for another ten years, huh? By then all the chaps will have moved out and I'll have to do ALL the dog walks.BrassieChic said:Any specific medical concerns with Ratties? 15 y/o WOW that's awesome! One of mine is a mouthy little sh!t and the other learned from her. Anyone comes to the door and they wouldn't shut up until whoever it is comes into the house.BrassieChic said:She lays pressing against me at ALL times! Great sleeper! I haven't heard her bark since she came even when my other dog sounds off! I'll keep an eye out for the leg thing...THANKS!
