Recommend A Fence Company

Know this is an old question, but to add

I just wanted to add my 2 cents and highly recommend Thomas Fence. Joe Thomas was great. Very friendly. Very professional. Very straight-forward. Gave me the lowest of 3 bids with the best warranty, and completed the job in a very timely manner. I have nothing but praise for his company. He even sprayed some poison ivy that was growing around the yard for me. I told him that I intend to replace/repair my deck at some point in the not too distant future, and he will be the first company that I call.

I just got a fence around my pool and I had Linear Fence do the work and they did a GREAT job, everything was to my liking and built exactly how I wanted, they even helped me decide what kind of fence I wanted with samples.

They did such a great job i referred them to my neighbors for a deck.

I contacted them through their website and got a response the very next day.

Linear Fence and Deck

Also one more thing, if you are worried about price, Linear Fence is very affordable, I had several companies come out to my house for an estimate and Linear Fence was by far the most affordable one and the easiest to make arrangements with, also they have free estimates.

Since this thread got resurrected, I am the OP. I went with Thomas fence. They were expensive. It was $400 for an hour worth of fix up work. I will not use them again for my other fence work.

Great fence company

We used Massey fence for our deck and fence. Great work, very friendly and very professional. It was all done in less then a week and we made a few changes afterward and he was more then willing to work with us. Has a great warranty, will come out for the next year and any boards that are warped will be replaced. We had metal balasters and the deck guys were very detail oriented and spent plenty of time making sure everything was lined up just right. Just overall EXTREMELY pleased with this company

Thomas Fence.
Local.
Best price around.
He has put in 3 for me at different houses.
I'm calling tomorrow to schedule a quote. I received a quote from a local company today and I thought the price was high. A friend of mine just contracted them to do her yard (which is twice the size of mine) and my quote was $200 less than hers for the same material.

It's not always best to go woth the lowest bidder - I speak from experience! I had a split rail fence put in less than 5 years ago. Long Fence gave me the lowest bid, and I thought they were well known, probably a decent company, so I went with them. It cost over $7000 to do my back yard. Now the fence is falling apart around us! A year or so ago I bought some new rails to repair the many rotten, broken pieces. I got the replacements from Thomas Fence. The fence rails were about twice as thick as my originals from Long Fence! You get what you pay for. I wish I had used Thomas Fence from the beginning. The owner was very helpful, went out of his way to get me the parts, and the quality of the rails was obviously way better than the crappy thin pieces I got from Long Fence.

We recently had a fence put around our new pool and it was done by Clinton. They do a lot of fences for this particular pool company so we called them first and got a quote. Then got a quote from Massey that was lower so I called Clinton back and told him the deal and he agreed to match the price. They also came out several times to discuss potential changes and even made last minute changes while on the job so I found them very easy to deal with.
Funny though...they all talk smack about each other. :killingme

I have now received two quotes. The second is $2500 more.

Both companies talked negatively about the other. I'm going to just line up popsicle sticks in my yard.

Massy

Sonny, by far had the best price. But what I liked the most was when he said "It's my name on the fence so I want it to be the best". Massy has provided great customer service, they came out same day when my latch broke.

Is there any rule of thumb for pricing fences? Something like X dollars per foot for chain link. Y dollars a foot for stockade...

Thomas quoted me $27 per LF for a 6' privacy vinyl and $18 per LF for a 4' wood. Massey quoted me $20 per LF for the vinyl privacy, and $17 per LF for a 6' privacy wood. If I go w/a 4' wood, Massey's cost is $13 per LF.

In my dealings with a few companies, they both lie and bad mouth each other. Thomas told me Massey's fencing was junk, when they both use the same material (Longevity). Here's a link to their distributor: Sonco Worldwide, Inc. - Chain Link Fence, Aluminum Ornamental Fence, Steel Ornamental Fence

I have decided that I'm purchasing the materials on my own and will install the fence and a deck with the help of family and friends.
