Recommend digital camera

My niece wants a digital camera for Christmas. She obviously doesn't need an expensive one (she's only 14). Can you recommend a nice but inexpensive (around $100) digital camera?

Looking at the black friday thread, I went to the link and saw where a number of retailers will have name brand cameras on sale CHEAP. 7 MP $99.99 and 5 MP for $49.99. :yikes:

Thanks, I didn't think of checking those ads. :dork: I'll be shopping on Black Friday anyway.

If it's Kodak, don't get it.

I bought a 7.2MP Kodak camera, and it sucks. :boo:

Olympus is the best.

I have had good luck with Kodaks but now I own a Sony and wouldn't own anything else. The Sony's boot up really fast compared to other cameras. The memory sticks are a little bit more expensive than the other format memory cards but not by that much.

Fuji's are the only cameras that I have used that I don't think are worth buying.

My Kodak has been FANTASTIC! I have owned 4 digitals and the Kodak has been, hands down, the best. The battery alone has lasted over 2 1/2 years, the pictures are outstanding, and I'm really bad at it, and the cost was better than most.

Make sure you do as mentioned above, get an extra memory card, saves a lot of time and trouble. Just pop one out, and pop in a new one.

:howdy: I've got a Nikon Cool Pix and love it! Am looking to upgrade to one with higher MPs and will probably go with Nikon again.

I got a Canon Powershot for my son, it's excellent on battery power and takes really good pics! It was only 125.00 on Dell's website so it's got to be cheaper out in town! Good Luck! :howdy:

Here are the specs:

Features a 7.1 Megapixel resolution and a high-quality Canon 4X Optical Zoom lens
Equipped with DIGIC III Image Processor with Face Detection Technology and Red-eye Correction for sharp images
Clear, high-resolution 2.5-inch LCD offers easy on-camera viewing
Offers four movie modes including 30 fps VGA and 60 fps Fast Frame Rate
Print/Share Button allows easy direct printing and downloading of your digital memories
ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto technologies reduce image blur and expand low-light shooting capabilities

Here's my new camera. $159.00 delivered to my door via FedEX. I ordered yesterday and it shipped yesterday. I know I could have probably found one a little cheaper at a store locally, but this comes as a package and includes everything listed below:

- Nikon Coolpix L15 L-Series Digital Camera (Black)
- Two 1.5v LR6 AA-size Energizer e2 Lithium batteries
- Battery Charger
- Nikon Pouch Case
- UC-E6 USB cable
- EG-CP14 Audio Video Cable
- AN-CP14 Strap
- Dock Insert PV-15
- Software Suite CD-ROM.

Figured it was worth the few extra pennies!

I have a nikon cool pix for my point and shoot, my DSLR is also a nikon. Very good brand :yay:

Nikon is good for DSLRs. When it comes to P&S, there are much better brands (Canon, Panasonic, Sony, Fuji, Olympus). Nikon really slacks on the P&S market.
