Recommendations for carseat/stroller

I'm looking for recommendations for a good carseat and stroller. I've been considering the "travel systems" because it seems pretty convenient to just be able to snap the carseat out of the car and snap it into a stroller, hopefully without waking a sleeping baby. Any thoughts on whether these are better than just buying a separate carseat & stroller?

Either way, which brands/models do you recommend and what are some things I should take into consideration when purchasing them? TIA.

Evenflo Travel System is the best! :yay: However, you need to get the one that fit your needs. Two cup holders, enough storage basket, wheels turn easily, etc.

I like the idea of taking the carseat out of the car into the stroller with no problem too.

I would suggest buying extra carseat base for your hubby's vehicle, so you don't have to deal with moving the base in and out all the time.

My son will be a year old in Dec & we have one of the Graco travel systems & I love it. I went to Babies R Us & looked at what they had. One thing to consider is the weight of the carrier, add that to your baby & that's what you'll be carrying around. I got one of the lightest ones & we love it. We also got the extra base for the other vehicle, makes things much easier. Plus once they grow out of it you can still use the stroller. It is nice for when the baby falls asleep in the car, just lift the carrier into the stroller.

We are still using the Graco system we got when #1 son was born (he's 10 now). Stroller is a bit bulky, but love it.

We have the Graco Cherry Blossom set. We also bought the extra base for my husbands vehicle. I am due in 3 weeks, so couldn't tell you anymore on it withough the baby being in there. But it was alot of storage space and 2 cup holders.
We also have the Eddie Bauer 3 in 1 carseat which holds up to 100lbs.

3 weeks? Congrats, it'll be here before you know it!

I'm looking at the Graco Milano set. Of course, at this point I've only looked online. I'll get to the store later this week to take an up close look at them. I've been reading the reviews (ruled out a couple, based on them) and figured all you somd parents would give me your thoughts too. Thanks everyone!

Be careful with this. Carseat come with an "expiration date". It is usually 5 years from the date of manufacture. When I first heard this I thought it was sick attempt by companies to force us into buying new seats. A few years ago when I renewed my certification we were shown a seat that had the plastic holding the seat belt completely snap during a minor accident. The investigation showed that it was not a defect in the seat when it was made, but the plastic degrading after sitting in a hot car/cold car for years. It can happen, it does happen.
The plastic in the seats breaks down after years of temperature changes. Just something to keep in mind.
All that said, if your seat was used for a year then was stored in a place that was temperature controlled, it negates the worry.

The graco snugride system is great!! I reccommend you also getting the graco snugride stroller frame. It folds really flat in your trunk and all you do is pop it open and clip the carseat right into itand you have a stroller! Costs about 59.99 now and worth every penny. Save the big stroller for later. You can get it at babies r us.

Whatever system you decide on make sure that the actual stroller seat does fasten in a completely upright position. Mine was great when they were really little but when they were old enough to sit up the seat was still in a slanted back posture even when fully raised. I had to jam blankets behind my son so he was comfortable, if I didn't he was constantly struggling to sit upright and it ticked him off.

I also recommend the Graco travel systems...

I've used them with all three of my kids. The SnugRide carseats have good ratings, unlike some of the competitors, and they fit right into the stroller from the car with no problems!

Also a :yay: for the Graco Travel System.
I only used the infant car seat for about 4-6 months with my kids before I moved them to a convertable seat but it was really great when they were newborns. And the stroller is still great--even though I gave it to SIL because I bought a double one.

Thanks for the heads up, I sure don't need a "ticked off son". If he's anything like his Daddy, I'm in for it as it is - he'll be full of energy & LOUD. That's definitely something I would never have thought of, being a first time Mom.

Thank you again, everyone, for your help. I'm sure I'll be asking for your help again. :huggy:
