Recommendations for Sailing Instruction?

Recommendations for Sailing Instruction

Any recommendations for sailing instruction here on the western shore? Closer to Northern Calvert is a plus, (live in Dunkirk), but if the instruction is worth it, I'm willing to drive.

A quick search came up with The Sailing Academy in Deale, and they have a couple of "combo" courses that appear to be what I'm looking for. A Sailing Basics and Keelboat Sailing (ASA101) combo, and a Coastal Cruising/Bareboat Chartering (ASA103/104) combo that I can take after completing the first one. Those along with their Coastal Navigation (ASA105) would be a good start for what I want to do.

If you've taken classes at other worthwhile schools, or from The Sailing Academy, and you can share your feedback, it would be greatly appreciated.

Lastly, for the sailors out there, is there a favored forum site for the sailing community here in Maryland? (not racing, more cruising).

Thanks..

I take it you don't have access to the base?

If you do join the sail club, they offer all the above lessons on boats from 16.5 for 101, 25 feet for 103, and 44 feet for the 104 and offshore navigation.

You'll save HUGE $$$$(.

OPEN to active duty, retirees and contractors...

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately I don't have access to the base, (even though I love the idea of saving money on the classes by joining their sailing club).

However, given that suggestion, if anyone knows of a similar option of good sailing instruction through joining a sailing club, please feel free to contribute to the thread.

Thanks again..
