The Sheriff's Office down here in Jacksonville is going to be testing red light cameras over the next couple of months. Why I felt the need to post this bit of Jax-local news is that these cameras don't snap pictures of people as they go through the light, and focus on the front tag area. These cameras measure each car's speed and determine if the speed makes the car likely to run the light. If the car is moving fast enough, a video camera comes on and tracks the car through the intersection, so you get to see exactly where your car was when the light turned red.
And for those of you who don't like these cameras because you don't get to confront your accuser, the folks that manage the cameras havea website that you can go to once you get a ticket. You can download the video of your wreckless driving and decide before going to court if you really want to challenge the video of your happy face driving by the camera as you bust the red light.
I hope they put these at every intersection!
