Clinton Portis Defends Michael Vick

"I don't know if he was fighting dogs or not, but it's his property, it's his dog," Portis told WAVY-TV. "If that's what he wants to do, do it. I think people should mind their business."

Portis also told WAVY-TV that he knows "a lot of back roads that got the dog fight if you want to go see it" and that "if it's behind closed doors, it's OK."

Incredible. :smack:

I can see Gibbs right now - red faced, veins popping out, steam coming out of his ears. "Clinton, I don't care what you think about this, keep your gosh darned mouth shut!" :lmao:

Well, I wouldn't cut their ears off or slit their belly to make them bleed like they do the bait dogs but Portis and Vick should both be covered with blood and Portis should be thrown in the pit with Vick and two of the nastiest and worse fighting dogs they have and just see how much they like being the bait, lets see just how quick they really are on their feet. I for one would cheer on the dogs. I have never seen so many defend Vick on this topic at other sites or try to make dog fighting anything less than it is just because they think Vick is a Hero or something. It will all come out soon and even if Vick avoids jail time, the damage against his name and his family is way past fixing. Vick is trash with money as far as I'm concerned and now I place Portis in the same boat. Vick should be jailed and his money and the money from the house he sold should be used as a donation for the shelters, rescue groups, people who have to now house, vet, and care for those 60+ dogs taken off the property, as well as fighting against dog fighting rings. Worse part is Vick hasn't offered a dime to help these dogs and probably won't. Not only does this place a heavy burden on the shelters and rescue groups but it causes the shelters to put down good adoptable dogs in order to hold these fighting dogs until the court dates which because Vick is high profile and rich will just draw it out longer creating lots and lots of deaths to dogs the shelter no longer has room for, not to mention the burden on tax payers dollar for the courts and such. Just a shameful pitiful situation. He is trash, period.

Animal fighting is one of the more low-rent rednecky things you can do.

I would definitely disagree....I don't think it is a redneck thing...I think it's a THUG thing.

Rednecks don't walk up and down the road parading their pits with huge chain collars....they show off huntin' dogs.

My post...

What do you suppose Portis would be doing for a living if our 'enlightened' society wasn't paying him millions of dollars a year to run around with a football, trying to avoid other millionaires who are trying to hit him as hard as they possibly can? For our entertainment?

Maybe he'd be teaching Human Ethics at the U? Perhaps he'd be a doctor of veterinary medicine? Maybe he would be studying the relative merits of hypocrisy and moral relevence in 'advanced' populations? Sure he would. Maybe.

Look at us, people. Is pro football all that different from dog fighting? No, there's not death or as much bloodshed in football, but then there wouldn't be as much in dog fighting if they wore pads in helmets, would there? What about Portis? He knows the day he can't run fast enough or turn quick enough he's disposed off, pretty much like a dog that's lost his fight, useless. Right?

Judge the man for his words and his actions, sure, but should we be so, well, sanctimonious and self righteous about a human being who lives in a culture that has rewarded him from day one for what he can do as an athelete, just like a dog, and could give a crap about him, at all, as long as he can run that ball?

Tell me how it's totally different.

Except for no purposeful deaths in the arena are we really any different from the Roman Empire right now?

Well he wasn't bred to do that and he has a choice whether or not to do it.
Oh and the million or so dollars a year. Not that a dog would know what to do with the money...

How about a couple dozen IQ points, the ability to reason, and a college education.

Before today I would have said 100 IQ points, but his remarks make me think he's a bit lower.

Vicks gated white house and its 15 acres-valued at $747,000 in county records-went on sale Wednesday 5/12 for $350,000 and was sold later that day.

Surry County records show that kennel licenses were purchased for the Moonlight Road home in 2004 and 2006 in the name of Tony Taylor. Taylor was also listed as the registered agent for MV7 LLC when it organized in June 2002 at the Moonlight Road address. Lawrence H. Woodward Jr., Vick's attorney, is MV7's current registered agent. Vick wears No. 7 for the Falcons.

MV7 is listed as the contact on the Web site for "Vicks' K-9 Kennels," which says it breeds pit bulls for sale. The Web site says: "We do not promote, support, or raise dogs for fighting and will not knowingly sell, give, or trade any dog that may be used for fighting."

Vick said he never went to the house and blamed the situation on family members who were "not doing the right thing." Local investigators on the case say they have informants that place Vick at dog fights.

Are you insinuating that Miami would give out a degree without the athlete getting an education? Next thing you'll be telling me that wrasslin is fake! :jameo:
