Regina's Pizza...Gone??

I went to my dentist today (in the same building that Regina's was in on Allentown road). I noticed that the building is being renovated and there's a sign saying: "Coming soon. Restaurant".
I asked my dentist's receptionist what gives and she said that the place really went downhill when Joe left and has been almost without patrons. She also said that, when they left, they took everything! Yes, everything: All the ovens and utensils and even the A/C unit in the ceiling!! :yikes:
The food used to be really good but I haven't eaten there since 2001.

Why are you driving so far to the dentist?

I was a fairly regular lunch goer there, very disappointed they closed. Their food was good, and they had a great salad and dessert bar all at a very reasonable price.

I guess the first sign things weren't going well was when they stopped serving beer/wine/liquor a few months back. Some good profit margins in that, which they no longer had. I'd heard it was because the owners had to reside in the state to carry one, but I'm not 100% certain of that. I don't put much faith in the grapevine, but it's all I have at the moment.

I wish them well, they are nice people.

Wow! Sorry to hear that. My first memories of Regina's was when they were in the little strip off of Allentown Way.

Sad, that was the first place I ate went I got stationed at Andrews back in 1994. The wife and I were put up in the Holiday Inn outside the main gate and were scared to leave the hotel. (We came from Loring AFB and Keflavik NAS, no crime) Regina's delivered a pizza and we became regulars because it was so good. oh well....

I used to live near Rosecroft raceway in 1979 and I wanted to find a dentist close by. I lived in Brinkley House apartments and his office was in the shopping center next to the apartments. I moved out a year later but stuck with him and I've been going to him ever since...
:yay: Been there many times back in 60s and 70s, had a hell of pizza back then.
Yep! Joe & company were phenomenal cooks. Real Italian pizza! Not Dijorno's.
I used to eat there a lot when it was in the adjacent shopping center on Allentown Way.
We had our last family reunion there in 2001 but the food buffet wasn't all that.
My receptionist friend said that Joe was giving up the business and spending his time with his family in Calvert county. Wonder how long he'll stay in retirement?

Sounds like it might have been a county residency reason why they lost their license, as opposed to a residency in the state issue, as I had thought. That's too bad, especially if it was part of the reason they had to close. Good place, with hands tied by County governance? :ohwell:

Could be, but I've been going there since 1972 and, I think Joe was there back then. If so, he's been there for 38 years or more. Maybe it was just time...
