Any hints tips tricks to the DMV here, besides bringing a book :nerd:? Just moved into town and have two vehicles to register. They are both in my husbands name...any one have first hand experience with registering a vehicle that is in someone elses name?

Thanks for helping through this one...

The local DMV is very helpful, but it's a local secret so can't tell you where it is.

Okay, ya beat it out of me, it's in Loveville.. and the staff there is awesome, friendly and helpful.. They actually go out of their way to help you instead of trying to find 10 reasons not to.

:yeahthat: :yeahthat: :yeahthat: Each and every time I've had to go in there they have always been very helpful and eager to get me though whatever process I need to navigate in order to get what I need. :yay: :yay:

I use Direct Express for almost everything to do with DMV. The price is reasonable for the grief it saves you.

Double :yeahthat: You wouldn't know its a DMV with the service you get there. People that use Loveville have no idea how bad the DMV is in other places.

Awesome! If I go there 30 minute prior to opening, are we talking long lines or not so much? I come from NJ where there were 3 stories and 6 hours. Most recently VA which wasn't too bad if I got there before open. Thanks everyone for your help; not dreading this so much now.

Show me the love.

I used to love that place, but the DMV down here is great. You schedule and appointment online, show up, and they see you on time. How great is that?

I may try it next time although I still suffer nitemares from Waldorf DMV. I even went to Glen Burnie once to avoid Waldorf but it was no improvement.

Oh yeah, well at the Loveville DMV they meet you at the door with fresh juice and/or coffee, inquire as to your needs and then fill out the forms for you. Oh yeah, they have a juke box and a soda jerk to keep you entertained while you wait for them to process your request.

If you go there at 8:30 a.m., you'll be fine. Don't go between 11 - 1:30 because they are short-staffed for lunch.

Has anyone tried the bus that would go to pax a couple times a month?

Do they still do that?

Nope, they stopped that a while back. It was great though. The bus people were just like the ones in Loveville, very nice & helpful.

Bring twice as much money as you think you need. We have to pay TAX on the freaking value of our cars and we have owned them outright since 2005. It was over $500. You also need your car inspected and a thing from the shop when you go to register your cars.

:yeahthat: We have three cars that we have to get registered and even though we paid over 8% tax on them already in Texas we now will owe a ton of money here for taxes as well. I believe husband said we are going to owe almost 1500.00 for all 3. So be prepared to clean out your savings! :jameo:

Just me
Isn't the amount of tax dependent upon the age of the vehicle? I don't think I had to pay any on my 7-y/o van when I moved here 3 years ago.

Then again, I'm old, so I may have forgotten...
