Registries

yeah yeah
How much time should you wait till you start getting stuff off the registry that you didnt get at a shower? I am saying we should wait at least 2 weeks- but J on the other hand is saying we should go this weekend. I am just thinking that if there is anyone who hasnt (ie: grandmother, aunt, some other family members) gotten a chance to give me the stuff they purchased.. that I should give them time. Is 2 weeks to long?

I'm all for waiting until you actually NEEEEED something rather than purchasing in advance "JUST IN CASE YOU NEED IT". I would think after all the gifts you've received so far, you are well on your way for providing for a newborn for quite a few months.

No it's not too long to wait. Unless we're talking major important items.

Remember that the first few weeks after you and new bundle of joy come home you won't need much other than diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream ( possibly), a place to sleep, blankets, lots and lots of burp clothes (at least w/ my 2 ) toilet items for the occasional bath and clothes of course.

Did I miss something?

It's always been a tradition in my family to give a gift the first time you visit a newborn, even if you bought a shower gift. So, if you don't need it right away, don't buy it.

Actually no. That is the thing. I got alot of washcloths and some packs of diapers, and some bath essentials, and I got like 4 sleepers, but I didnt get any of the health stuff I wanted to have on hand, along with changing pad for the top of the dresser, along with enough bottles (only got 3) along with some smaller blankets (got a huge arse quilt). Still need Crib sheets, diaper bag, burp cloths, along with the health stuff, etc etc. Along with some other "needed" stuff.

But- that is what the g/c's are for. So I will get the absolutes and then it will be cool.

I know right. I registered for this J&J health kit which has that along with baby motrin and tylenol and rash cream and such. So since I wasnt able to get it, I know I am getting that!

But, one thing I will say, since our nursery is in the Wind and the Willows/Mr. Toad theme... I am impressed beyond belief that one person outta everyone remembered and found a bath set with the frogs! That was truly awesome

I thought people gave gifts out of the goodness of their hearts and whatever you didn't get, you bought for yourself. I don't get the waiting thing.
