Actually that logic doesn't track at all.

If man evolved from apes, then men are, by definition, NOT apes.

I don't intend to enter an Darwin vs. Jesus debate with you, I just wanted to point that out.
The account of creation does not say God created the animals and the animal that was an ape eventually changed into the form of modern man. God created the animals and He created man in His own image.

According to the Bible, God created man in His own likeness, His own image. Man looks like Him. So if man is created in the image of God and as evolutionists hold that modern man evolved from some ape or ape predecessor, then according to that God must look like some ape or ape predecessor. I choose to believe that God is as far above man as man is above the apes; farther; beyond our comprehension. The account of creation says God created the animals. It also states He created man. There is a definite distinction.

I'll believe the Bible. You all carry on believing as you wish.
people are dumb all over, they are also mean and a little ugly.
so following your logic, you can reason that if we are dumb and ugly, and we were created in god's image, then god is also dumb, and maybe a little mean and ugly on the side.
paraphrased from a zappa song.....

Be that as it may, your representation of what evolutionists say, and the logic which you attributed to them was inaccurate. That was my only point, as I have no intention of attempting to persuade you into believing it.

I'd rather do something much more useful with my time, like jamming syringes into my eyeballs.

According to the more reasonable Catholic interpretation: To be made in God's image means that mankind has intellect and free will.

Genesis 1:26-27

26Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

The original statement was correct. Man was created in God's own image in that he had a soul. The animals do not have souls.
Who is to say what method God used to create the animals and man. Evolution can very well be the result of that creation.

I especially find amusing how people think the Big Bang Theory is contray to creation when it was developed to scientifically prove creation. There was nothing, then there was a bang, and light.

So, you believe that God is a man with super powers?

How is it that I get so much more from my Bible than you get from yours?

You and Bavarian are so busy promoting Catholicism you seem to forget that all of Christianity is about Jesus. The pope is but a mere mortal; a sinner like all. Matter of fact, history,as I learned when I was in Rome, states many popes have had mistresses and been involved in immoral and illegal acts. What does that mean? Just that they were sinners like everyone else that is human and not infallible.

No. I find it amazing you would get that from what I have posted.

I believe God is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and End. Nothing exists except by His will and everything exists for His pleasure. He is the Creator of all things visible and invisible.
Colossians 1:16-17

16For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.

17He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
He created mankind to rule over the earth and everything in it.
Genesis 1:26Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."
God would walk and talk with Adam in Eden. Mankind was created for God's pleasure to do with as He pleases.

Does that make God a man with super powers? No. It makes man a creation of God that God chose to make to look like Him.

I believe the Bible. It is my authority on all matters of the Spirit. Maybe you seem to get more because you make it up as you go.

I know that you are not going to like this but it is a serious question:

Does God have a penis?
If so, is it circumcised?

It was a joke, but even so your intepretation of image and likeness is childish and silly not to mention unreasonable and if I dare so unscriptural.

It's interesting how you resort to calling me satan when backed into a corner. I'll should tell you how I came by my forum nickname but I'll save that for another day.

What you fail to realize is that Catholicism is not all about the pope. In fact, I'd venture to say that it's Protestants who make it all about the pope. All Catholics are Christians; Catholics were the first Christians. If you follow Jesus with any intellectual honesty then you follow the Apostolic faith that Jesus set out for you whether you like everything about it or not. Why? Because it's about Jesus and what He wants not you and what you want.

And, yes, the Popes are sinners just like the rest of us, none of them would have denied it nor would I. Your statement makes it clear that you misunderstand what infallibility means, and that's ok a lot of people do. Would you like me to explain it to you so you will have a proper understanding, or would you prefer to remain ignorant? Your choice.

I was unaware that infallibility had more than one meaning.

Please do explain.

It requires more than a dash-off post, so I will start a new thread on that later this evening when I'm not working and done with my 'net conference. :huggy:

The Bible says man is created in God likeness, so yes.

Circumcision is a procedure performed by humans. It was directed by God to Abraham and his descendants, so no, God is not circumcised in my opinion.

But what differences does that make? None. It is irrelevant distraction from proclaiming Jesus.

I quoted scripture. I didn't see any Biblical quotes in your posts.

You are the one that chose the name. I just point out that what you post is mostly distraction from proclaiming the gospel and winning souls to God's kingdom.

I know that Catholicism is not about the pope. I think many Catholics seem to proclaim the pope and Catholicism instead of Jesus. Most, maybe all, of what I have seen you post is about defending the pope or trying to convince everyone that only Catholics are right and nothing about proclaiming Jesus as Savior and Lord for all mankind. I do not believe all Catholics are Christians just as all Protestants are not Christians. There are probably a lot of pew riders in all churches, but I am not the judge of a persons heart. God knows and will cull His flock in time.

I think I have it.
The First Vatican Council wast the first to declare, "It is a dogma divinely revealed: that the Roman Pontiff when he speaks ex cathedra, that is, when acting in the office of shepherd and teacher of all Christians, he defines, by virtue of his supreme apostolic authority, doctrine concerning faith and morals to be held by the universal Church, possesses through the divine assistance promised to him the person of St. Peter, the infallibility with which the divine Redeemer willed his church to be endowed in defining doctrine concerning faith or morals; and that such definitions are therefore irreformable of themselves, and not from the consent of the Church." - Dogmatic Constitution I on the Church of Christ, iv

I would really prefer not to engage in bashing and defending any human organization. It is a complete distraction from Jesus. Every time we engage in this, satan wins. People who are not Christians are turned off and rightly so. We become exactly what we should not be; detractors from Christ instead of proclaimers of the gospel.

It's just kind of funny that you assume God must have a penis in order to maintain you ideas about scripture. It seems like you've created God in your image (assuming you have a penis). I guess that means that women were not created in the image of God?
