Yes, lots and lots of water - we're quite surrounded, especially St. Mary's and Calvert which are waterlocked on three sides each, with lots of "nooks and crannies" for exploring. Lots of woods (I myself live in a pine forest!) and parklands. There are tons of foxes around (I know - I hear them almost every night), but I've never seen a coyote this far south although I have heard they're in the area.
We don't have nutrias thank goodness, but there are beavers, groundhogs, and the like around, plus lots of deer, skunks, opossums, squirrels, birds, and other critters to watch and photograph. You definitely won't run out of subject matter, that's for sure.

I had read of cougar out there as well...we'll have to look up a biologist or two and do some searching
We are heading back for work but for the most part family. Found this site through a search, the photography and area images really stood out...it takes almost three hours to drive through Houston by itself, so we're looking forward to 3 day weekends in the south part of Maryland, might get a house for weekend use down there as well. I lived in the Outer banks for some time as well, so really looking forward to the Ches' area again.

I took my first trip to the Outer Banks last summer for my vacation and absolutely loved it. Stayed in a little cottage on the ocean in Kill Devils Hills and had a blast. I hope to go back again this year.
