Aluminum isn't the best blocker of RF signals, expecially that thin. If I were to do this I would look for some copper or another high moleculear weight metal. A jammer would be much more effective, chances are SMECO would never be able to figure that out.



yeah put if the SM also uses the Power Lines, this is a moot point ....... they will still get the data they want

But like I said, the only data to get is when power is being used and how much. They can't differentiate a television from a computer etc.

I do think there is an electrical signature that could tell you more about the equipment. Refrigerator compressor motor pulls electric differently than say the water pump.

A motor is an inductive load, while they may be able to tell a motor is running they couldnt tell what the motor is for, maybe how many RPM it runs but thats about it. Anyway like I said above it is easy to mask this either with certian types of power filters or for the really paranoid you could use your house electricity to charge up batteries and use the battery power to power an inverter that then supplied the AC to your house eliminating any connection from anything in your house to the grid except the battery charger.
