Remember Sobe? She was the pregnant Mastiff we pulled from PG Animal Shelter that had 13 puppies on March 13 (which wasn't very long after we pulled her).

Her puppies and her story were followed here and a few of her puppies were actually adopted by forumites.

Sobe was adopted in June to some great people that love her unconditionally, which isn't hard as Sobe has an awesome personality and lives to make her humans happy.

Sobe has been diagnosed with cancer. The exact type we don't know yet, as of yesterday they said that after a week of treatments they will know if the cancer is going to respond or if it's terminal.

Sobe is only about 2 years old and hasn't really had that easy of a life, at least not until she was rescued. From the 3 months in foster care to the not even 4 months in her new home, everyone has tried to give her a lifetime of love and care and now by a cruel twist of fate, her life may be cut short too short.

As everyone knows that has pets, vet bills rack up quite quickly and Sobe’s family has already spent over $1000 just trying to find out what was making her sick. The treatments are at least $150 each time.

Sobe and her family can use all the prayers and good wishes you can send, if you would like to make a monetary donation (which is tax deductible), you can make it through pay pal (katmc@secondhoperescue.org), just note that it is for Sobe, or if you send me a pm I will give you an address to send a check.

How sad...:frown:
:yeahthat:
I think that if I had a big dog, I would look into the pet health insurance. Big dogs seem to me to have more medical problems than small ones. I would love for my next dog to be a lab and I know going in they have a history of bad hips.

Curious...if they don't know the exact type of cancer, how are they treating her? Since I'm going through the cancer issue with Biscuit, I like to know what other types/treatments other people are dealing with.

maybe, maybe, maybe this cancer will turn out to be treatable and Sobe will be ok. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

:yeahthat: So sorry Sobe, but she looks to be a big strong girl, hopefully this will be easy for her to beat. Prayers are with her and her family. :yay:

Unfortunately I'm not the one talking directly to them so am only getting this 2nd hand - I'll talk with her later probably next week. I agree, I'm curious as well.

I've done some research (last week) about pet insurance and many of them won't cover cancer or genetic issues. There is one that I found (but can't think of the name right off) that you can buy "riders" for cancer and genetics. We always recommend insurance - I'm a believer that if you can afford the monthly bill, it's well worth it.

There are foods and supplements that are very important in the treatment of cancer. I'd be happy to share the information I have with them.
