Renting a car with a debit

I use my bankcard (which can be used as a Visa) for rental cars. The companies consider it a debit card, not credit card. I rent through Enterprise and they hold $200. Another thing they may not have told you is you need a utility bill or some other bill with your name and address on it.

:yeahthat: Luckily the lady rented the car to me anyways. They didn't mention it to me until I got there, and I told her I have a habit of carrying utility bills with me.

But they never charged my debit for the hold fee.

Usually you can get away with telling them your engaged. As for the up charge because the car was out of your class that shouldn't happen. If they can't provide what you reserved then they have no option but to upgrade you for free. Unless this is a mom and pop run affiliate that's the standard.

Then somewhere there's an unaccounted for 8 dollars:frown: This was a municipal airport and National rental car.

My BF has never seen me angry and the easiest way to make me angry is for me to pay for something and I not get what I pay for. Mind you, it was his money, but still.
Do you know how hard it was not to go psycho in front of him, so I could get the rate back down? I'll argue the tires off the car if I have to:lol:

As for the engaged thing, I'll have to remember to wear my old, old engagement ring and practice our lie:lol:

The lady at Hertz actually told me this one.

Also if you can rent local as opposed to an airport you can save a lot of fees.

I was in Ludington, MI.... And over the internet, the closest rental car place was the Muskegon airfield over an hour away! I refused to rent car in Detroit because of costs, so I had BF pick my up and I took the rental back.:yay:

I'm bargain shopper that's for sure. My whole trip, including airfare, rental car with gas and gas for the big truck to pick me up, souvenirs and smokes, booze and food cost me about 450$ for a week.
