AOC isn't near as stupid as those who voted for her, and she was smart enough to get herself a job she may have well into her 80's and will become rich doing it.

Most districts lean so strongly in one direction - you lose in the primary, not in the general election. And thing is, primaries are grossly under attended by the voters. ESPECIALLY in midterms. They can be won by a mere 10,000 votes. A very well funded campaign AGAINST them can win.

Doesn’t happen often because parties have no need to oust a sure thing.

Exactly why AOC got elected. The incumbent didn't campaign since he thought he was a sure thing. AOC actually went door to door, glad-handed at functions, and made people aware of her.
