Replacement for cows milk

Thing 1 has terrible allergies and cows milk increases the snot production 10 fold. As a babe/toddler I put him on soy and or rice milk which he drank. He now doesn't like the taste of it, not even the flavored kind. I tried coconut milk and almost ended up with him in the ER due to an allergic reaction. Tried almond milk this morning and it's a no go because he doesn't like the way it tastes. Is there anything else out there that I can try?

Goat milk? Good Luck! I'm so glad my kids never had food allergies.

Does he need milk for a reason? Try to find a dairy goat farm near you. They're not legally allowed to sell raw milk for human consumption, but if you tell them it's for crafts or puppies :)wink:) they'll probably sell it to you. My sister said they sell it at Super Walmart (in NC), not sure if they sell it in MD.

The only thing I can think of is rice milk. Tastes pretty good though it might be hard to find around here.

Its an allergy, not an intolerance so I guess Lactaid won't help. You've tried soy and rice....someone just suggested goat but I'm not sure where you'd get that. :ohwell:
Let me call a friend that's pretty much allergic to everything - she may have an idea. BRB.

Whoops, skimming too much this morning. I saw "soy" in your post, didn't see "rice".

Carry on, lugnut is running a little slow today... :lmao:

Is there a specific reason you want him to drink milk? The reason I ask is because my little one was having issues with cow milk. The pediatrician assured me that as long as she was receiving the vitamins from other sources such as cheese or yogurt or other daires, she didn't have to drink milk. Or are you looking for something to put on cereal or use when preparing foods for him/her?

The only food allergy thus far was the coconut. Which he's heartbroken over because every Easter we make a bunny cake with flake coconut for hair. His allergies are mostly seasonal, spring and fall. He's already got a head full of snot and fall hasn't even started. :jameo: The cows milk seems to make his congestion much worse.

Cereal and he loves to drink milk. Last year his congestion got so bad that his hearing test at school came back with weird results and I had to take him to the doctor to have his hearing checked. He had me take him off all dairy for a week and sure enough he was fine.

She suggested Oat milk. You can get it at the health food store in Leonardtown.

Our band director used to forbid dairy products for 48 hours before competitions because it causes mucus build up. Chorus director said the same thing. You may just need to up his allergy meds. A lot of people are feeling fall allergies early this year.

I've seen freah goat milk in a dairy case locally, might have been in McKay's You might have to call around. We raised goats for many years and drank it all the time.

The poor thing, the doctor wants to put him on allergy shots. I'm not down with that yet. I'm going to take him to an allergist first. He's so skinny I'd hate to think of him having to get regular shots at such a young age.
