I had terrible milk allergies as a child. Mom fed me Powdered milk.

Walking for a cure!!
The poor thing, the doctor wants to put him on allergy shots. I'm not down with that yet. I'm going to take him to an allergist first. He's so skinny I'd hate to think of him having to get regular shots at such a young age.

If you don't already have an allergy doc in mind, I recommend Dr. Simlot 737-4995. He is right across the street from Walmart and he is awesome!!

Actually, I was going to ask if natural mom's milk is an option. You can find donors for that.

That's very true.

Pixie, you can contact the Breastfeeding Support Group to get the info.

I saw goat milk at Food Lion right there on top shelf where the regular cow milk sit on the bottom. Also, I saw goat milk in a can for baking goodies in baking aisle. (Don't ask me why I know about them.)

Have you checked Woodburn's Grocery Store on Calvert side? Might be a little pricey, but it's there.

Last, you can always contact local farmers if they would be willing to sell you goat milk. I'm sure the farmers would be more than happy to help you.

Thing 1 has terrible allergies and cows milk increases the snot production 10 fold. As a babe/toddler I put him on soy and or rice milk which he drank. He now doesn't like the taste of it, not even the flavored kind. I tried coconut milk and almost ended up with him in the ER due to an allergic reaction. Tried almond milk this morning and it's a no go because he doesn't like the way it tastes. Is there anything else out there that I can try?

What about Parmalot? sp they sell it at the grocery stores packaged like the little juice boxes. Carnation powdered instant milk?

My son was extremely silk from milks and formulas. The powdered and the parmalot did fine. Also the lactic free acidopolis?sp

Where would I even get that?

It's not easy to find, but it's out there.

Had a friend in NH that had the same issue. She bought goats and supplied it herself.

Lot of goat farms around here, and I would think this would be one reason to have a goat farm, for the milk.

I doubt you are going to find it at SFW, but do a local search or I bet even the local farmers market would have it.. or an Amish farm.

The only food allergy thus far was the coconut. Which he's heartbroken over because every Easter we make a bunny cake with flake coconut for hair. His allergies are mostly seasonal, spring and fall. He's already got a head full of snot and fall hasn't even started. :jameo: The cows milk seems to make his congestion much worse.

My only food allergy is Coors Light, o wait a minute, that is addiction, not allergy. Never mind.

Have you tried organic milk like Horizon? Is the kid definitely allergic to cow milk? Maybe organic milk with less preservatives will not be as bad.

Horizon is damn tasty but $$$$$$.

Conventional milk does not contain preservatives. The only thing different is no chance of antibiotic residue and no rBST.

The only thing I can think of is rice milk. Tastes pretty good though it might be hard to find around here.

I'm almost sure you can't find rice milk in grocery stores, BUT you might be able to find it in Asian food stores. At the intersection of Great Mills Road and Route 5 there is an Asian Foods store; although I don't know the name of it.

The last time I was there I believe I saw milk of some kind. I didn't think twice about it, as I too have "whole milk issues." Myself, I can only drink Lactose-free milk, but that is another discussion for another time.

Hope this helps.....the first paragraph.....
