WE will never be ready for a WMD attack. The best we can try to do is find who launched the attack and utterly destroy their friggin country by nuking hell out of them.
There is no way to have thousands of medical personnel, hundreds of ambulances standing in some cave waiting.
Storing supplies in abundance enough to help would be expensive and money wasted as those supplies would deteriorate and become useless. Like the thousands of trailers we now have sitting on lots after the New Orleans debacle.
Gas masks. Most gas masks are no good for a nerve gas attack, you would need a complete body suit. By the time you had it stored in your closet at home, and got home to get it you would be dead.
A dirty bomb would only mean the deaths of hundreds of rescue personnel like the hundreds that died at Chernobyl. Cannon fodder.
No: we will never be ready, but hopefully we can retaliate and have a President with the courage to do so.
