What I'm liking about most of these nominees is they know when to stop talking. They answer the question, then shut up. No blathering. The more you blather, the more likely you are to say something stupid. If there's just ranting from some Senator (*cough* Hirono *cough*) and no question, they don't respond.

If you get to see a clip of crazy Fauxcahontas going off, watch the whole thing. She is sofa king stupid it's breathtaking.

I was listening to it on the radio. I realize he doesn't want to be caught in "gotchas" - so he is understandably evasive. They will ask HIM his opinion on something, even if his job will never have any power to do anything about it.

On the other hand - on several subjects, he was extraordinarily knowledgeable - in stark contrast to many of Biden's nominees whom I swear were there to tick off a box.

Rumor has it he will make it - but that Tulsi will be a tougher sell.

I didn't like that he trotted out the "why should we pay for someone who smoked for 20 years" arguments. Lots of unhealthy things were marketed as healthy, or at least not harmful for a long time.

Hell, even cigarettes were marketed as HEALTHY for decades, long enough to put someone on the path to emphysema and cancer.

Verbal fireworks exploded minutes into the Senate Finance Committee hearing on Wednesday, the first of two straight days of congressional confirmation hearings for the controversial vaccine skeptic and environmental crusader who ran for the White House in 2024 before ending his bid and endorsing Trump.

Kennedy repeatedly insisted that he was not "anti-vaccine" and slammed multiple Democratic senators for pushing a "dishonest" narrative against him that he has "corrected" on national television many times. Democrats on the committee pointed to a slew of past comments from the nominee in which he questioned or disparaged COVID shots and other vaccines.

Kennedy returns to Capitol Hill on Thursday for a hearing in front of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. It is considered a courtesy hearing as only the Senate Finance Committee will vote on Kennedy's confirmation.

With Republicans controlling the Senate by a 53-47 majority, Kennedy can only afford to lose the support of three GOP senators if Democrats unite against his confirmation. During Wednesday's hearing, no Republicans appeared to oppose the nomination.

I've said before, it's not that Democrat politicians are stupid, it's that they know their voters are and will gobble it up. Then they'll say something that makes me go, "Huh. Maybe they really are stupid..." but you come on here gobbling and I'm back to it's their voters.
