I just walk around Sat afternoon and find my tix, usually it takes about 15 minutes after I arrive. Walk around the RVs in the surrounding neighborhood to look for some also. I have only gone three times w/ tickets in hand. :yay:
How's that work?? What do you pay? How are the seats? Ever been shafted? Just curious....

I have never been shafted buying my tix on race day at the track. No one has ever over charged for them either. Besides, if you get caught scalping at the track I hear the cops and the D.A. are pretty hard on you. I think they actually confiscate all the tickets you have for starters. If you know the sections of the track then that will work to your advantage, just get a map from the ticket office at the main entrance. Oddly enough I have had seats in the non-alcohol section (Dogwood) at the exit of turn 2 three times. Those are actually pretty good seats the only thing you cannot see from there is pit road, but you can see the exit, and there are ways around the no alcohol thing. *wink*

You can always get tix at face value by wandering around the track, the key is to print out the sitting charts and check the chart to make sure you get a decent seat. Catt's aunt has 8 season tickets and normally we have seats, but never heard a word this year from them. We are probably going to go down ticketless and buy a couple there IF we can get a room for Saturday night. No fun going to the race and having to drive back up here.

Just find a piece of yard in the neighborhood behind the track and pitch a tent. :yay: You can also camp out in the satellite parking lots on Meadowbridge Rd. The peeps in da hood usually charge $20 to park and $40-$50 to stay overnight, more if you are RVing. Two experiences for the price of one campin' and racin'!
You need to get there early to get a close spot, last fall the cops closed Meadowbridge Rd at the intersection where that big flea market is. That was at 8 am I think.

Not to worry, I have a reserved spot off Meadowbridge..been parking in this guy's yard forever, he always holds me a spot. Not into camping, we usually get a room in town. After the race, we snake thru the neighborhoods and we're back in our room 30 minutes after the race.

This chic don't do no tent camping. I have gone to Charlotte for years. Used to get a hotel in downtown Charlotte. Tried the tent thing ONE time..then went in RV's the rest of the years. I have to have a hair dryer (generator) and a private FLUSHABLE place to do my business.

I used to sit at the entrance to turn 2, up high. Could see whole track (except pit road).

I didn't know they had no drinking sections. Interesting.

I'm in the "Old Dominion" section between 3 & 4 this time. Hope it's not a dry section. Great view of pit road entrance!!

Ever see this? 3D views of the track from your seat. Cool!! http://www.seats3d.com/international_speedway_corporation/richmond_international_raceway/

Gotta Question...

Say you buy tix for this race and when the person you bought them from mails them to you they get lost in the mail...will RIR replace tickets?
Anyone have any experience with this?

Pretty much. From the tracking number that was given to us it keeps saying that it was registered and dropped off at that post office but it isn't showing a departure scan.

That sucks WH :ohwell:

But don't freak out, I've had things show up at my door step and they never showed a departure from the post office until days later. Right now, I have a tub replacement for a steam clearner and it still doesn't show it left the post office. It was at my door step the day before yesterday. Hopefully, they will show up. :tap:

Have you contacted the Post Office and asked them the status of the package? After all you do have the tracking number.

Yeah both post offices have been contacted and both of them give the same answer "It ain't here" and with the tracking number it says it never left the departure post office. It was sent Priority Certified mail.
