Ride Thread...

There aren't any. Riding in SOMD is more about the destination; Broome's Island or down to St. Georges Island. Maybe the Torpedo bar (I forget the name of the marina, Dennis Pt.?) . Riding across the TJ bridge is very cool.

Oh, but dodging road apples is fun up in the Amish area!

There were a few bikes out this morning. I plan to get mine out and enjoy a short ride this weekend.

Lots of scooters on the island today. I got the dresser out of the shed and discovered

a) it was a dirty mess and the cats had been sleeping on the cover...

b) battery is pretty shot...no cranking reserve left.

So I gave it a thorough cleaning and waxing..rode it for 5 miles off the island and back..and putting it away again. There's always next year :buddies:

Day was too full to ride, sadly. But I rode to work three days this last week, so I'm okay. Got my "down to 32 degrees" wardrobe figured out. :dye: A bit chilly by the time I get to work, but not so much that it aint worth riding.....

I've been down to the teens.. gerbings on top, including gloves, and a normal liner in a set of riding pants.

That would be me, too.

I lost my enthusiasm for foul-weather riding some 8 or 10 bikes and several decades ago. Back when I had no other option and was riding to work in 6" of snow on packed ice, in traffic......:buddies:

If it's cold but dry, I try to go. Lost count of how many times I border-lined hypothermia including the first time that put me in bed for two days.

I used to be happy to ride in the ride, wanted the challenge and I do think it made me a better rider, lighter on the controls, smoother and it used to be fun but, I guess I feel like I got that merit badge and it has lost it's appeal. Unless it's a summer shower when it's been cooking all day.

For cold, I got one damn finger that ALWAYS is the first thing on me to cry uncle. I can't afford electric gear like Beemer people can so, second best; my red neck finger tip gets ELECTRIC tape. Works!!!!

I like to ride in the fall...50s to 60 is perfect and 40s is still OK. The bike (especially the old Harleys) is happiest and the leather is most comfortable.

I'm not about riding in the rain, no great urge for that, but if I can stay warm, or even not freeze, I'll ride. Lots of folks don't get it, why the hell I would ride instead of taking my monster car, with the heated leather seats and sat radio, but as much as I love my car, I just love riding more, it really is therapeutic.
