sorry to hear of your loss. losing a pet that has so much history with your family is rough. The good thing is she is no longer in pain. Hope your family is ok. :huggy:

We lost our sweet Cheyenne Friday.

As many of you know, for over a month we have been battling what we though was a sinus infection resulting from a kick or smack on the head. She appeared to be recovering, the nasal dischard was almost gone, and she seemed in good spritis.

Friday, Rottncop went out to feed and found her on the ground frothing. He got her up, and she was wobbly and walking head down backwards counter clockwise. It was scary stuff, and Tidewater was called immediately.

Doc came out, tubed her with some fluids, gave her a bunch of steroids/DMSO and more antibiotics than enough, and said she'd be back in a few hours with the endoscope.

She came back and we took a look and found massive tumors/polyps in her gutteral sack. It is her best guess the infection encapsulated due to the antibiotics and bute, and invaded her central nervous system. She seemed to be trying to back away from the pain (hence the head down walking backwards). It was awful for her and the brain damage was most likely irreversible.

Needless to say we didn't expect this horrible turn of events, and Chey-Chey will be missed every day. She taught all 5 of our kids to ride, and had begun teaching our grandson, MorganLovers son from his buddy saddle as well.

RIP sweet girl. Boy and your baby miss you terribly.

I'm soo very sorry for you and your family's loss :frown: :huggy:

Don't Mourn For Me

Don't mourn for me
Dear owner, kind and true.
I know that you will miss me
As I will also think of you.

We shared so many secrets;
those you whispered in my ear.
I've kept those secrets for you
lest anyone would hear.

And in return you've kept me
from being turned out in the cold.
You've fed, watered, and cared for me
while we both grew old.

But God had called and needs me;
He says that it is time
I claim that sweet reward
in a kinder, green clime.

He promises sweeter clover,
clear water, rich and pure.
I'll never have to suffer
from wounds that humans cannot cure.

I'll romp and play all day
with others he has called hither.
I'll have so many new friends
that will scratch upon my wither.

I'll be watching out for you
when comes your judgment day
and together towards the pearly gates
we again will ride away!

:bawl: our hearts ar so heavy. my little one sits on the gate and just looks at the baby and tears run down her little cheeks. all she says is "I miss her mom". it's awful. this is the one and only thing i hate about horses and all our pets.
