Tri-County came out and paved the driveway yesterday, and it looks fantastic. :yay:

It took Copenhaver 3 weeks to respond to us with a bid, and it was over $2000 more than Tri-County. Right now, the paving companies are swamped. It was tough getting call backs from all of them.

Tri-County paved our driveway a couple weeks ago and ours looks great as well. I would recommend them.

We also ran into a problem w/ other paving companies never returning our call, but Tri-County were pretty good about getting back to us.

Note:
I would just like to inform the general public that Copenhaver has been in business in St. Mary's County for 27 years. If you are looking for quality - no doubt who you should call. Beware of the cheap prices you may be getting. Most of the time - you get what you pay for..... so Beware!

Copenhaver Asphalt uses only "Virgin Stone Mix" Asphalt materials that are procured locally. They do NOT use recycled/wrap mixes - which are approx. 27% cheaper per ton.

My advice to all -

(1st) make sure the company has a MHIC (MD Home Improvement License) - this is the Law in the State of MD. All Residential jobs require the contractor to have a MHIC License - this number must be posted on all vehicles as well. This goes for paving and sealcoating.

(2nd) Verify what you are given your quote for (thickness/product). You should always ask what thickness (compacted) and what type of product you are getting for your money.

(3rd) Ask around - word of mouth is the best advertisement.

Copenhaver is busy and may take a while to get back to you - they are busy - if you find someone knocking on your door - BEWARE!!!! Should be a RED flag to you - ask for MHIC License number - look at their vehicle (is the number posted/listed on the vehicles) - ask about product type and compacted thickness.

Copenhaver is located in Hollywood, MD.

:yeahthat:

If you look at my builders grade cheap driveway, versus my neighbor's Copenhaver driveway, there is no comparison. After 10 years, mine is collapsing in spots, and looks like crap. The Copenhaver driveway next door is still nice and smooth. I have even sealed mine more frequently than the neighbors applied sealer to their driveway. I'm going with quality when I pave over the mess I currently have... :yay:
