I think it's kind of lame too but what's the difference in a middle school sign and a sign at a sporting event that everyone ooohhhhs and aaahhhhs over:shrug:

I agree with this comment. :)

Didn't this happen at a Pro ball game under the pretense of winning a drawing? The chick came out to mid field to get her prize and the guy popped the question over the PA. She ran off field never to be seen again.

I recall a Wizzards Basketball game where a suitor popped the question at halftime and the suitor was in the mascot uniform. It made the news for several weeks later because she rebuffed his offer of marriage.
Come to find out, it was a hoax for ratings all along.

Spring Ridge Middle School's sign has a marriage proposal to someone named Miss Cross. Ladies, what do you think of this idea?

Alright, here was my initial take... Did any of you see "Meet the Parents"? Do you recall that Ben Stiller was trying to propose by having the school kids hold up letters asking whatsherface, the teacher, to marry him? I was thinking along those lines. That, this "Miss Cross" is a teacher at the school, Spring Ridge, and that possibly her boyfriend is known to her class and fellow faculty. Therefore, this wasn't meant to be a cheap, one-upper (diaper-shopping-bebe's-kids-deal) kind of event, but perhaps a silly little romantic gig.

Perhaps????

When I was younger, I thought it would cool to be asked that question in front of everyone, now, well I don't know, hard to think of those things that are so removed from your mind, 14 1/2 years of marriage tends to do that.

Yep. They may both be teachers at the school. That being the case, I think it shows involvement in the school and the students. My daughters chorus teacher, at the same school, was married several years ago and the whole school was talking about it. She was a very well liked and respected teacher.

Personally, I prefer something quiet and private. I was mortified after I accepted and FB banged on a glass to get the entire restaurants attention to announce that I had accepted his proposal. :blushing:

If that had been me I would have been absolutely moritified and never had gone back to the restaurant again or spoken to him for about a week for that matter. How long did it take you to live that one down?

 You would do that? Just seems a bit extreme when the gesture was very sweet. I am not the least bit suprised, after meeting her husband, that he asked that way, it is fitting. He was proud and wanted everyone to know.

I was extremely stress out. I just bought a house, and I had been rushing from place to place. My, now, husband tossed a ring in my lap when I sat down in the car after getting my mail at the post office.

I'm old fashioned on this issue. I'd prefer the suitor to announce his intention over a family dinner where he had arranged for my father's blessing in advance. I'm living in the wrong day and age I suppose.

Give it a few years and it might turn into a roadside memorial once the marriage dies.
