When you're a Hollywood celebrity, people can intrude in your private life and you have no obligation to answer," said Bruce Cain, political science professor at UC Berkeley. "But if you're running for public office, it becomes an issue of character."

Cain says the pressure is now on Schwarzenegger to address the issue with frankness because "at least a quarter of the electorate make their decision on those (character) issues completely. And when you're a candidate who is rather vague on the issues and saying 'trust me,' then character becomes all that more critical."
:killingme *whew*

It's just sex, people. Lighten up. :bubble:

It would be maddening...

:razz2: ....if it weren't so funny. The idea there are dozens of leftists out there with no other task than to comb through every piece of literature or film or interview Ahhnold ever touched, or did, seeing what type of damaging remarks can be culled to make him look bad...

So he admits to saying some crazy things back 25 years ago, but when pressed as to what he really said, he cannot remember specifically. So what; I can't remember exactly what I said last week!

Ah, only in America.

The sad fact is that it's too late to give California back to Mexico;
they have more people in Sou. California than in their own country, so what's to be gained?

Besides, if Schwarzenegger had zero skeletons, he still would not be elected.

BTW... please don't be mean :frown: to my home state  or to Mexico. :bandit: . . . . California has its faults, no argument there, but it's hardly alone.

 Are you speaking of the San Andreas Fault or or something completely different?

Some people have been hoping there'd be a massive earthquake along the above line in California, and then the state could become it's own separate nation.

Bertha, nothing personal directed at you, but there have been numerous strange emanations being emitted from that state-
ranging from Gov. Gay Davis'(sorry forgot the "r") brilliant leadership in bankrupting the state's economy - and he's still convinced he can retain his job - to a state judge who declared the Boy Scouts a RELIGIOUS organization, thus ineligible to use a public park for any of their activities(was that in San Diego?)

There are more goofy events in the annals of recent history, to include Babwa Streisand's rant about Pres. Bush, obstensively quoting Shakespeare about an example in history portraying what a tyrant our president is(oops, the bard never said that!)
to Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen, Ed Asner, and the one I really "like", Jean Garofalo - what planet does she live on?
Her latest rant repeating "Duh?" for an apppreciative left-wing crowd out there in la-la land. Those people ate that up!

But wait, there's more! Nah, I've given enough examples of the strange experiment gone wrong in California.

Penn, those are just the liberals. And they're not just in California, THEY'RE EVERYWHERE!!!! :yikes:

I don't think the Hollywood nutties are a good representation of the state. They're just the most visible citizens. And San Francisco, home of some of the biggest nutties in the world, is just one city.

 But geez vrai, notice how most of them seemed to have gravitated to the far left of the country?

Is that a coincidence?

Does the name Gary Condit ring any bells?

Yeah. I know.

In California are all of my family and dearest friends, Penncam. I was born there and lived my first 36 years there. If you think I don't know my motherland's faults, then you must think I'm a fool.

OTOH, if you can't find fault with any other state in the union, perhaps you're the fool. I don't think you are, but then, your politics are so extremely polarized it's hard for me to read many of your posts.

If you think California is ruled by Hollywood, and contains only (or even primarily) evil, stupid "liberals," then obviously you've never heard of Orange County, Bob Dornan, Dana Rohrabacher (who represents my home district), Ronald Reagan, Pete Wilson, George Deukmejian, S.I. Hayakawa, Richard Nixon, John Schmitz . . . .

I should've known better than to throw rocks at a beehive.

 Bertha, let's not take this too seriously.

Sure, I have heard of all those folks, but they're not the ones grabbing the headlines.

It is most assuredly true that not all liberals are evil and stupid, either.

One would have to admit either these people or the press media are ensuring these stories are splashed over the news every hour on the hour. Why? Because it's news?

Further, the next story you hear seems to be more curious or hilarious than the last.

Maybe it's the sheer size of California that contributes to the amount of incredible news emanating from it.

If you look at any other state you will find head-scratching news coming from there as well; just not as much it seems.

Indeed. California was made the nation's current circus when the recall effort was begun. Soon what should never have been started will be over, thank God, and there will still be a Democrat in the gov's mansion.

:barf: Taco Bell sucks, my friend. One can see their corporate headquarters while traveling the San Diego Freeway through Irvine. Won't be long before they have an inflated Taco Terminator on their roof.

Y'know what's on the other side of the freeway? The headquarters of TBN. No, not Turner... the Trinity Broadcasting Network. In all the world, there is no more ostentatious monument to mammon in the name of God.

God help my humble home state. :bawl:

That's actually a great idea, if you think about it. They should make that the real election. Get Mickey Ds and KFC in on it. Boost the economy and do your civic duty all in one fell swoop!
