Rottweilers in Shelter

Help "Invisible Dogs"
There are two Rottweilers at TriCounty Animal Shelter in Hughesville.

One is an owner surrender, he's 1 yr old - the owner's surrendered him because "he's too hyper" (go figure...) But he will need an experienced owner.http://www.charlescounty.org/es/apps/availableanimals/details.jsp?ID=28537

The other is a stray and he's about 2, maybe 3 - they say he's friendly as well. His time is up also.

I have an anonymous angel that has volunteered to pay the adoption fee on at least one of these dogs if that will help him to get a good home.

I also have a contact that has a 1-2 yr old female Rottweiler (has a tail), that needs a home, she was found emaciated and appears to have been abused. She is a sweet heart and in the right home will flourish. She weighs between 65-70, no idea on her vetting, she is in heat right now, so probably is, or will be pregnant, but the spay will take care of that. Pic

If you can help ANY of these Rottweilers, please post on here with a way for me to reach you.

Thank you!

My next cause is to rescue Pork Chop, the overweight Boxer. They say he has some issues. I say he's just unhappy. The still haven't temperment tested him so he cannot be visited with. I don't understand what they are waiting for. They told me he would be tested today. I may go look at him after work.

Thanks, Jwwb for posting his picture. :frown:

He isn't overweight, he is just HUGE, more like 110-130 pound HUGE. I didn't experience any temperment issues the entire 20 minutes is sat there in front of his cage talking to him and he sniffing my hands. The ONLY thing he did was a big doggie sigh that sounding like a "gruff". I am awaiting a phone call of the testing. He just didn't want to be in that cage, I will agree with you on that Catt, and you could tell. When the other dogs were yappin their heads off, he just layed there like they didn't phase him.

Well, I got a little pissy with them. I said "just when do you think you might do the testing?" The girl replied....Well, we are really busy. I told them that they have people interested in helping this dog and that if nobody could see him, how was he suposed to get help? I understand there's a liability if he bites somebody but I think that's unlikely.

He certainly looked like a Boxer but that's really way too big...maybe he's got something else in him.

Are you guys interested in him?

Yes we are. We wanted to take him out of the kennel yesterday in the play yard to see how he was and couldn't due to the "might bite" issue.

He could have something else mixed but the markings are very much boxer.

I don't see a picture of Porkchop!! :jameo:

Here he is, he is a good looking dog, just big.

You can't click the pic, so you can go here and look at post 171.

 I'm sure they will.
Any updates on the Rotties? When we called they said they were no longer there. Hopefully, they were either adopted or rescued, not the other option.

When I talked to them on Friday, they were there, I'll call and check and repost what I find out.

Why isn't there a Rottweiler Rescue in this area?

I know there are breeders down here and if they don't support rescue of their breed, then they shouldn't be breeding.

Any news on the rotties this am????

I really hate the fact that these breeds keep winding up in the shelter and they are usually one of the first to be put down. Glad the boxer got a home!!

Hope that this experience in some way enforced what I was trying to say in my post about the shelter. If they are always "really busy" then how many more of the dogs could potentially be adopted and missing their chance at a home!!
