When I talked to them on Friday, they were there, I'll call and check and repost what I find out.

Why isn't there a Rottweiler Rescue in this area?

I know there are breeders down here and if they don't support rescue of their breed, then they shouldn't be breeding.

Duke is still listed on the website. Not sure if he made it to a new home.

You have it... ANOTHER "ONE" -

One that Cares
One that is willing to help
One that DOES put her time and money where her mouth is
One that has no use for "others" that have no compassion

The companion animal (dogs and cats, plus others), overpopulation and shame that this county supports by their callousness and support of BYB's is a pure MAN MADE PROBLEM. Only humans can stop the madness.

One little step by each person, regardless of how small a step, if everyone took a step, these problems could be overcome.

So yes, Another "ONE" on the forums.

Rottweilers are my breed of choice and passion, far too many wind up in the local animal shelter. Fortunately they (TriCounty) have become a little more "Rottweiler" friendly and keep them longer in hopes of finding them good homes, unfortunately the homeless problem of Rottweilers in this county will continue to explode until the BYB's are put out of business and the hobbiest breeders take responsibility for their actions.

Just wondering why you created ANOTHER MPD, what was wrong with the 3-4 you already had?

You win.....

Last comment to you, done wasting my time... I AM A NEW USER, I also have a passion, so if you don't want to waste your time, quit reading anything I post..

I'll be happy and you'll surely be happier.

No MPDs here. Just like-minded individuals who care and share a passion for animals who have no choice in the life they've been given by a "supposed" higher form of intelligence.

Duke is still available...

He is an OWNER SURRENDER and he can be PTS at anytime. According to the information the shelter has - not good w/cats or small dogs - Needs to be an only dog. He was turned in for being too hyper - HE'S A PUPPY....

The shelter technician has noted that he is a sweet dog. But he will require an experienced owner.

The other dog is still there, but there is a hold on him being available for adoption.

The shelter's adoption fee for October is $45 - that's is a heck of a bargain for bringing home a loving companion.

THE ADOPTION FEE ON THESE DOGS WILL BE PAID for a qualified adopter.

Please let's see if we can get these dogs adopted!

Great news! I feel so bad for the old dogs on the Tri Cty site, the old shep, the old lab, the coonhound (he's 6)...heard they are next in line for being PTS when the cages get full. We've got a 2.5 yr old male rottie on our site for adoption if you know anyone else looking!

I know. I hate to see them there. What a way to have to spend their last days. Alone and confused. On a more positive note, we have been talking with a NO-KILL shelter in Boston and they have agreed to take in some dogs if we transport them. Plans are now in the works to arrange a trip up there with as many as possible that will fit in the van. Hopefully, will be approximately 10-15 dogs depending on their size. People associated with PAWS have offered their personal van and we will begin within the next few weeks. I worked with a transport group once and it is amazing to see the dedication and coordination of these volunteers. :yay:

That is a positive note! I've spoken to a lady from VA who goes to OH to rescue dogs from being PTS (some shelters do it every Monday, regardless of what day the dog comes in, didn't sound like a wait period at all), and she finds foster homes for them, puts them on their adoption site, etc. Thank goodness some folks care.

I'm so glad to hear Duke got adopted. I'm sure his write up scared some potential adopters off, it's hard enough to adopt a smaller dog that needs training, but to adopt such a big dog with so much strength, takes a special type of person.

It's great that Boston is willing to work with you. I know that every city is overrun with abandoned animals!
