I received the same flier. For those of you who may be outside of the mailing area but are affected by this (commuting from lower Charles or St. Mary's Counties) you can check out the website at:
US 301 Highway Project
The area under study runs from TB (in Prince George's County) to the Turkey Hill Road/Washington Avenue intersection just north of La Plata and encompasses White Plains, St. Charles and Beantown as well as extending eastward to include Middletown and Berry Roads.
I can recall that a late as 1980, there were only 5 traffic lights on 301 in Charles County going all the way from the Prince George's County line to the 301 bridge. (Pinefield, Berry/Leonardtown Road, White Plains and two in La Plata.)
Owing to the fact that Waldorf is an unincorporated town (no mayor or town council), the unrestrained growth in Waldorf over the last 30 years has been the responsibility of the Charles County commissioners.
I urge everyone affected by this traffic nightmare to make your voices heard.
