Not sure it matters or not but every station I've seen in western MD has been 2.99

Yeah, it goes down out there after Frederick and then goes up, usually to more than here, when you cross into Pennsylvania. It used to be, say twenty years ago, gas in Pennsylvania was at least twenty cents lower than here. Then the gas tax was slammed upward.

Yeah, I do remember that. I wonder if one of the new taxes will be on the gas again?

Maryland gas taxes go up every year around July 1st automatically based on the CPI. That was enacted maybe fifteen years ago when the Legislature (and then Governor O' Malley) got tired of having to vote on a gas tax every year or so and the resulting crap from the voters.

Now when it goes up they can truthfully say they had nothing to do with it and that it's part of legislation passed years ago. It's similar to the property tax scam of the Constant Yield. Their salaries also go up the same way.
