Okay, I googled it. No mention anywhere credible that he was a CIA agent - he was in the Army, then went on to manage a furniture store. Apparently Barry's mom was distantly involved in CIA something or another when she was in Indonesia, and his grandmother worked for a bank that did business with the CIA.
